This will be the 29-year-old Sylvester’s 2nd defense of his IBF title, which was formerly held by IBF middleweight champion Arthur Abraham until he vacated the title to move up to the super middleweight division last year.

By Jim Dower: Unbeaten middleweight contender Daniel Jacobs (20-0, 17 KO’s) could challenge for the middleweight title against either Felix Sturm or Sebastian Sylvester, according to Sportsillustrated. Jacobs, only 23, destroyed Juan Astorga in two rounds last weekend on the undercard of the Amir Khan vs. Paulie Malignaggi fight at Madison Square Garden, in New York. Jacobs looked very impressive in that fight, and knocked Astorga down four times before stopping him in the 2nd.

This is really bad for Valero, because he would have had the chance to fight on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto fight at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas.
