Jacobs blames loss on Golovkin-Canelo interest

Image: Jacobs blames loss on Golovkin-Canelo interest

By Dan Ambrose: Daniel Jacobs still doesn’t seem to have fully digested his loss to Gennady Golovkin (37-0, 33 KOs) last Saturday at Madison Square Garden in New York. Jacobs (32-2, 29 KOs) says he watched the fight his fight with Golovkin 3 to 4 times, and he still believes he should have been given the victory. What’s interesting is that Jacobs believes that part of the reason why he lost the fight to Golovkin was because of the huge interest in the boxing world in the Saul Canelo Alvarez vs. Golovkin fight, which could take place in September.

Golovkin: I want Canelo fight, I’m very mad

Image: Golovkin: I want Canelo fight, I’m very mad

By Dan Ambrose: Gennady “GGG” Golovkin took another scalp last Saturday night in beating number #2 middleweight Daniel Jacobs, and now he’s angry and ready to beat Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Golovkin wants the Canelo fight in the worst way after pursuing the fight with the Golden Boy Promotions star with no luck.

Golovkin and Canelo could take place in September, but it’s still very much uncertain. Golovkin was almost sidetracked by Jacobs due to their fight being a close one. Golovkin won by a 12 round unanimous decision, but it was close at the end. The difference between them was Golovkin’s 4th round knockdown of Jacobs.

Sanchez: Jacobs a bigger puncher than Canelo

Image: Sanchez: Jacobs a bigger puncher than Canelo

By Dan Ambrose: Trainer Abel Sanchez views Daniel Jacobs as a more dangerous foe for Gennady Golovkin than Saul Canelo Alvarez. When it comes to punching power, Sanchez rates Jacobs as the bigger puncher than Canelo, who he sees as just a flashy puncher that throws combinations. What this means is that the real test to determine whether Golovkin is the best fighter in the 160 lb. division will be determined this Saturday night when he faces Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Sanchez: Canelo is a fake middleweight, Golovkin KOs him

Image: Sanchez: Canelo is a fake middleweight, Golovkin KOs him

By Dan Ambrose: Saul Canelo Alvarez is a fake middleweight, and he’ll be knocked out if he faces middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, says his trainer Abel Sanchez. He thinks Canelo doesn’t want the fight against Golovkin, because he and his promoter Oscar De L Hoya knows he gets knocked out when that fight happens. Sanchez says if the Canelo fight happens for Golovkin, then it’s good. If it doesn’t happen, then they’ll move on and keep doing what they’ve been doing in winning fight. Sanchez repeatedly says Golovkin is focused on his fight this Saturday night against Daniel Jacobs, but the future fight against Canelo is there in the background that he’s thinking about.

Golovkin focused on Jacobs, not Canelo

Image: Golovkin focused on Jacobs, not Canelo

By Allan Fox: This Saturday night, middleweight knockout artist Gennady Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) needs a victory over Daniel Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs) to reserve a spot for a big money fight against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in September. Even if Canelo and his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions decide that they’re willing to take the fight at that time, a victory for Golovkin over Jacobs still means a lot.

By Dan Ambrose: Gennady “GGG” Golovkin is not in favor of Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) fighting Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) at a catch-weight of 164 ½ pounds for their fight on May 6 on HBO PPV. By Jeff Aranow: David Lemieux’s impressive 3rd round knockout of Curtis Stevens last Saturday might make it more difficiult for him to get a big fight against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Lemieux (37-3, 33 KOs) mentioned wanting to take a fight against the 26-year-old Canelo (48-1-1, 34 KOs) before he faces IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in a rematch to avenge his loss to him from 2015.

By Dan Ambrose: David Lemieux (37-3, 33 KOs) showed that he still has enormous power last Saturday night in taking out Curtis Stevens (29-6, 21 KOs) in 3 rounds, and he’s now interested in facing Saul “Canelo” Alvarez before a rematch against Gennady Golovkin. Lemieux might have a difficult time getting the fight against Canelo in 2017, because he’s already scheduled to fight Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on May 6.

Chavez Jr. will knockout Canelo says Carlos Cuadras

Image: Chavez Jr. will knockout Canelo says Carlos Cuadras

By Dan Ambrose: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) will defeat Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) by knockout on May 6, says former WBC super flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras. He’s picking the 6’0” Chavez Jr. to win based on his size and power. Cuadras points out that Chavez Jr. has a powerful liver punch that he likes to throw to hurt his opponents. Cuadras thinks that Chavez Jr. will land that shot on Canelo. It would be a real shocker if Chavez Jr. is able to KO Canelo, because he’s the No.1 pay-per-view fighter in the U.S right now.

Canelo must box Golovkin says Richardson

Image: Canelo must box Golovkin says Richardson

By Dan Ambrose: Trainer Naazim Richardson thinks that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez has the punching power and the boxing skills to give middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin a great deal of problems when the two of them encounter each other in the future. Richardson suggests that the Golden Boy Promotions star Canelo should use his boxing skills to fight Golovkin rather than standing and trading with him. He feels this is the best way for him to deal with Golovkin.
