Canelo Alvarez
Santos Saul Álvarez Barragán, better known as Canelo, which translates to ‘cinnamon’ for his fiery red hair, has spiced up the boxing scene since his debut. Born in Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1990, this pugilist has clinched world championships across four weight divisions, making him a staple in the Hall of Fame pantry. Canelo unified titles in three divisions and claimed lineal championships in two, notably overpowering Miguel Cotto in 2015 for the WBC, Ring, and lineal middleweight crowns. Outside the ring, Canelo’s life is just as sweet, sharing it with his two kids, Emily Cinnamon Alvarez and Mía Ener Álvarez, and his wife, Fernanda Gómez, since 2021. According to Forbes, Canelo is worth at least $275 million!

Canelo says he wants to knock GGG’s head off
By Dan Ambrose: Saul Canelo Alvarez wants to punish IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin in their rematch on September 15 for his mouthing off since their last fight a year ago. Canelo wants to tear GGG’s head off this time. However, for Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) to do that, he’s going to need to make major improvements in his conditioning from the way he fought last time, and there’s a lot of doubts whether he can.

Loeffler: The officials for Canelo-GGG will be under a microscope
By Jeff Aranow: The judges for the rematch between Saul Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin will be under close examination by boxing public on September 15, according to promoter Tom Loeffler. After the odd scores turned in by two of the judges last year for the Canelo-Golovkin fight, the judges selected for the rematch are going to find themselves watched closely by the public to make sure they don’t turn in another set of scores that don’t match the fight.
Golovkin vs. Alvarez – Round 13
By Tom Hochbaum: As announced last week, Gennady Golovkin and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will meet in Las Vegas on September 15th in a rematch for the Middleweight championship. If you are interested in the purse splits, titles stripped, tests failed, negotiations, or media posturing, do yourself a favor and skip this article. Boxing fans have been inundated with story lines surrounding this fight since the controversial decision of a draw in the first rendition last September. Meanwhile, breakdown of the actual fight seems to have taken a back seat. So it comes as quite the relief to hear each fighters’ camps announce that there will be no press conference or media tour for the rematch. The fighters seem to genuinely dislike each other at this point and the promotion requires little additional build-up ahead of the highly-anticipated rematch.
