By Scott Gilfoid: IBF light welterweight champion Julius Indongo (22-0, 15 KOs) put on a masterful performance in beating WBA World 140-pound champion Ricky Burns (41-6-1, 14 KOs) by a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision on Saturday night in their unification fight at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. The judges scored the fight 120-108, 118-110 and 116-112. The last score didn’t make much sense, as Indongo clearly won all 12 rounds of the fight.

By Scott Gilfoid: The moment of truth has arrived for Ricky Burns (41-5-1, 14 KOs) in his unification fight tonight against the powerful southpaw Julius Indongo (21-0, 15 KOs) at The SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. Burns just turned 34 this week on April 13, and he’s going to have it tough in putting up his WBA World light welterweight title against the 34-year-old Indongo, who will have his IBF 140lb strap on the line for their unification fight at the SSE Hydro.

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF light welterweight champion Julius Indongo is not worried at all about the crowd for his unification fight this Saturday night against WBA World 140lb champion Ricky “Rickster” Burns at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. By Scott Gilfoid: IBO/WBA World light welterweight champion Ricky Burns (41-5-1, 14 KOs) is not concerned with the punching power of his opponent IBF champion Julius Indongo (21-0, 15 KOs) in their unification fight for this Saturday night at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland. Indongo, 34, has some boxing fans thinking he’s a big puncher after his 1st round knockout victory over former IBF 140lb champion Eduard Troyanovsky last December.

Canelo vs. Chavez Jr. is a business fight says Malignaggi

Image: Canelo vs. Chavez Jr. is a business fight says Malignaggi

By Allan Fox: Commentator and former two division world champion Paulie Malignaggi says he doesn’t like the Saul “Canelo Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs), which is scheduled for HBO pay-per-view on May 6. Malignggi sees the Canelo-Chavez Jr. fight as more of a business related match-up, which is a self-serving one that will help everyone involved in the fight.

It will help enrich Canelo, his promoters at Golden Boy, Chavez Jr., and his management team. But as far as giving the boxing public a good product in terms of a competitive match-up, Malignaggi sees the fight coming up short in that department.

Ricky Burns fights Julius Indongo on April 15

Image: Ricky Burns fights Julius Indongo on April 15

By Scott Gilfoid: As I already predicted, WBA World light welterweight champion Ricky Burns will be fighting a unification match against IBF 140lb champion Julius Indongo on April 15 at the SSE Hydro, in Glasgow, Scotland. The news was officially announced today, but it’s been widely known for weeks that this would be the next fight for the 33-year-old Burns.

While some boxing fans are jumping up and down with glee that Burns is facing a talented fighter in Indongo (21-0, 11 KOs), I’m not that excited. Indongo’s 1st round knockout win over former IBF light welterweight champion Eduard Troyanovsky last month on December 3, it wasn’t an indication of the actual talent level of Indongo.

Ricky Burns vs. Julius Indongo in the works for April

Image: Ricky Burns vs. Julius Indongo in the works for April

By Scott Gilfoid: A unification fight between WBA World light welterweight champion Ricky Burns and IBF champ Julius Indongo is in the works for April, according to Burns’ manager Alex Morrison. The Burns- Indongo match-up will take place in Glasgow, Scotland. That’s here Burns lives, and it would obviously give him a tremendous advantage over the 33-year-old Indongo (21-0, 11 KOs).

The idea is for Burns to beat Indongo, and then move forward to a big fight in Las Vegas, Nevada later this year against possibly former four division world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner. Burns was mentioned as a possibility last week by Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach as one of the two options for his April 23 fight. However, it now looks like Pacquiao will be fighting little known Australian Jeff Horn on that date in Brisbane, Australia.

Roach says Burns or Horn possible for Pacquiao’s April fight

Image: Roach says Burns or Horn possible for Pacquiao’s April fight

By Chris Williams: WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao’s trainer says that WBA World light welterweight champion Ricky Burns (41-5-1, 14 KOs) and #2 IBF, #2 WBO Jeff Horn (16-0-1, 11 KOs) are the two possibilities for Pacquiao’s next fight on April 23.

The 33-year-old Burns is a new name that has been added to the list. Previously, it was just Horn as the potential guy for the fight against the 38-year-old Pacquiao after WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Terence Crawford (30-0, 21 KOs) was ruled out as a possible opponent by Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum, who said that fight wouldn’t be taking place in the first half of 2017.
