Donaire wants winner of Salido vs. Cruz fight

donaure52By Chris Williams: If Nonito Donaire (31-2, 20 KO’s) can get past his right with 37-year-old Vic Darchinyan (39-5-1, 28 KO’s) on November 9th, Donaire reportedly wants to fight the winner of the October 12th fight between Orlando Salido (39-12-2, 27 KO’s) and Orlando Cruz (20-2-1, 10 KO’s) for the WBO featherweight title, according to Philboxing.com.

Salido and Cruz will be battling for the vacant WBO 126 lb. title. By Donaire going after the winner of that fight, he’ll be taking the path of least resistance in trying to win one of the featherweight titles.

Lock stops Cruz in the 5th

By Sam Gregory: In the first televised bout on the undercard of tonight’s Mayweather-Marquez fight, 30 year old Cornelius Lock of Detroit improved his record to 19-4-1 with 12 KO’s by stopping the previously undefeated Puerto Rican Orlando Cruz 16-1-1 with 7 KO’s in a battle between two southpaws.

Cruz Destroys Miranda

miranda3435435By Jim Dower: Previously unbeaten featherweight prospect Leonilo Miranda (30-1, 28 KOs) stopped in the 5th round by Puerto Rican Orlando Cruz (16-0-1, 7 KOs) last night at the Million Dollar Elm Casino, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The end came suddenly for the 26-year-old Miranda when he walked into a big left hand in the 5th, flattening him. Miranda got to his feet but then fell back against the ropes where he hung there with both arms outstretched on the ropes like a big spider. Referee Steve Smoger than promptly stopped the fight at 0:39 of the 5th.
