By Jason Kim: Odlanier Solis (17-1, 12 KO’s) wants a rematch with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) in Cologne, Germany and says he’ll fight Klitschko for free in the rematch.

Klitschko vs. Solis – The Aftermath
By John F. McKenna (McJack): Saturday night’s disappointing performance by Odlanier Solis (17-1, 12 KO’s) has stirred up quite a bit of controversy. The punch that Vitali Klistchko (44-2, 39 KO’s) hit Odlanier with is very reminiscent of the “Phantom Punch” that Muhammad Ali KO’d Sonny Liston with in their second fight in 1965.
Oner: Solis didn’t have a pre-existing injury before Vitali bout
By Dave Lahr: For the boxing fans who are still in the dark about whether former 2004 Olympic Gold medalist Odlanier Solis (17-1, 12 KO’s) had a pre-existing injury to his right knee before his fight with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) last Saturday night in Cologne, Germany, Solis’ promoter Ahmet Oner cleared up the mess with a press release today. Orner said “This rumous is based on a false quotation in the German press. Everybody knows that there are a lot of medical tests for fighters who want to compete in a world tittle fight.”
Klitschko – Solis: Another unfortunate disappointment for the Heavyweights
By Simon Hirst: Upon watching Saturday night’s heavyweight clash for the WBC title, a mix of emotions ran through me as a boxing fan. Disappointment, confusion, anger were some of the emotions I felt at the first round stoppage. It wasn’t that it was ended in the first round, but how inconclusive the fight was.
Vitali’s destruction of Solis not a good sign for Haye
By William Mackay: If you’re a fan of smaller heavyweights like Odlanier Solis and WBA heavyweight champion David Haye, it wasn’t nice to see how easily WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko crushed Solis in one round last Saturday night in Cologne, Germany. It wasn’t that Vitali looked invincible or anything early in the round, because he was taking some shots from Solis. But with Vitali’s steel chin and powerful right hand you knew that the fight was going to end with him knocking out the much smaller 6’1″ Solis sooner or later once Vitali connected.
The shame of Solis – He got hurt and wimped out
By Ben James: There is no doubt about it. Last Saturday nights heavyweight world title fight was a huge let down, the biggest let down since the last heavyweight let down when David Haye knocked out the rabbit in the headlights called Audley Harrison.
Vitali unlikely to ever face Solis again
By Sean McDaniel: Although many boxing fans would like to see a rematch between WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Kliotschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) and challenger Odlanier Solis (17-1, 12 Ko’s) to help clear up the massive confusion over the ending of their fight last Saturday night in Cologne, Germany, it’s not likely that the 39-year-old Vitali will have time to ever fight Solis again.
Would Haye have done any better than Solis against Vitali?
By Scott Gilfoid: Before anyone rags on the injured Odlanier Solis for his disappointing 1st round blowout loss to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko last weekend in Cologne, Germany, try and imagine how WBA heavyweight champion David Haye would have done if he was in the ring with Vitali instead of Solis. Although Haye was dismissive of Solis’ performance against Vitali, saying “He [Solis] will unfortunately go down as yet another fat bum,” I think Haye is kidding himself that he would have done any better than Solis in a fight against Haye.
Vitali makes statement, says Solis was knocked out by punch first before injuring leg
“I feel I hit him very hard. Solis was knocked out. What happened after that. He breaks his ligaments or knee. It’s his problem. I’m sorry the fight was so short. I promise the next fight, I won’t touch my opponent for the first three rounds, and after that, I’ll knock him out. But with fight with Solis, no excuses. He was knocked out by punch – right half uppercut, hook. Solis’ feels bad. After that it’s everything excuses from his side.”
Klitschko vs. Solis: Through my eyes
By Terry Arthur: In the build up to this fight the smart money was on Dr Iron Fist WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko against Cuban Odlanier Solis. Vitali has enormous top level experience, an iron chin as well as an iron fist, having never been knocked out. Add to that the fact that he’s only ever lost twice, both times to injury. The first being a shoulder injury and the second a more damaging cuts stoppage at the hands of the best heavyweight of his generation in Lennox Lewis.
