By Jim Dower: WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (45-0-1, 31 KO’s) had too much size, speed and youth for the lighter Marco Antonio Rubio (53-6-1, 46 KO’s) in beating the challenger by a 12 round unanimous decision on Saturday night in front of a large 14,000 crowd at the Alamodome, in San Antonio, Texas.

Arum: If Donaire beats Vazquez Jr., he’ll fight Arce, Nishioka and Rigondeaux
Photo: Adrian Hernandez – By Chris Williams: It looks like former two-division world champion Nonito Donaire (27-1, 18 KO’s) may ultimately fight WBA World super bantamweight champion Guillermo “The Jackal” Rigondeaux (9-0, 7 KO’s) after all, as Donaire and Rigondeaux’s promoter, Bob Arum, told RingTV that Donaire will get to Rigondeaux if Donaire gets by Vazquez Jr., Jorge Arce and Toshiaki Nishioka.
Vazquez Jr. will need to take away Donaire’s left hook to win
By Dan Ambrose: Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (21-1-1, 18 KO’s) is every bit as powerful as Nonito Donaire (27-1, 18 KO’s), but what he doesn’t have is the speed in his shots. If he doesn’t see Donaire’s punches coming, he’s going to have problems. This Saturday night, Donaire and Vazquez Jr. will be fighting for the vacant WBO super bantamweight title at the Alamodome, in San Antonio, Texas.
