The final judges’ scores were 98-93, 99-91 and 100-90. Sporting a huge six and half inch height advantage, the 5’11 ½” Ragosina bounced around for 10 rounds, leaning backwards and pounding away at the shorter 5’5” 39-year-old Ramsey and appearing to win every round without too many problems.

Natascha Ragosina Defeats Conjestina Achieng

ragosina5476833.jpgBy Erik Schmidt: WIBA Women’s International Boxing Association super middleweight champion Natascha Ragosina (18-0, 11 KOs) (among many others) defended her titles with an uninspiring safety-first 10-round unanimous decision win over challenger Conjestina Achieng (14-5-3, 7 KOs) on Friday night at the Rundturm Arena, Cuxhaven, in Niedersachsen, Germany. The final decision was booed loudly by the German fans, many who felt that Achieng had won the fight with her more aggressive fighting style and her much harder punches landed.

I’m in agreement with the majority of the ring side crowd, because Ragosina did little other than bounce around the ring, throwing jabs that hit nothing, and running from Achieng for the entire fight. Ragosina, 32, never even tried to stop and fight for any length of time. Instead, she ran almost continuously, and would fight on her back foot when pinned up against the ropes by Achieng, leaning way back to try and avoid getting hit. It looked altogether that she was afraid to engage Achieng with any meaningful punches and was mostly focused with trying to avoid contact as much as possible. This meant that instead of throwing punches to connect, Ragosina seemed more concentrated on throwing short jabs that looked more intent on keeping her away than on connecting

Ragosina Decisions Perozzi

ragosina5333.jpgBy Erik Schmight: Undefeated WIBF/WIBA/WBA/WBC Womans super middleweight champion Natascha Ragosina (17-0, 11 KOs) defeated Teresa Perozzi (6-3-1) by a 10-round lopsided unanimous decision at the Maritim Hotel, Magdeburg, in Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany on Saturday night. The final judges’ scores were 100-90, 99-90 and 99-91, for Ragosina. Originally from Russian and now living and fighting out of Germany, Ragosina, 31, towered over her 5’6″ opponent by 51/2 inches and used her height to easily pound out a one-sided decision. Though Perozzi, 34, gamely pressed the action for the entire bout, she simply wasn’t tall enough or highly skilled to compete with the 5’11 1/2 inch Ragosina, who stood tall all fight long, firing out mostly jabs at her shorter, rounder and slower opponent.

There was hardly any action in the first round whatsoever. In fact, there were only two punches that connected during the entire round, which has to be some kind of record. Ragosina mostly jabbed at the air with her left hand, not connecting, and not really trying to. I think she was mostly using her jab to ward off the short, squat Perozzi. Ragosina didn’t really have to do much, for Perozzi looked badly intimidated in the first round, as if she was afraid to get hit.
