By Manuel Perez: At yesterday’s press conference at Monday’s press conference at the Beverly Hills hotel, Freddie Roach, the trainer of Manny Pacquiao, had his usual standard pearls of wisdom for the reporters, remarking “I think this is going to be a 12-round fight. No knockout. This guy [Miguel Cotto] is very resilient. If a knockout comes, it comes, but if you go out there looking for a knockout, you might get caught yourself. We have to be very tactical.” In other words, Pacquiao needs to try and protect his noggin from getting tagged by Cotto on November 14th.

Roach Denies that Pacquiao takes Steroids – News
By Eric Thomas: Freddie Roach, the trainer for Manny Pacquiao, denies that Manny takes steroids, saying in an interview at Boxing Fanhouse “Well, we [Pacquiao] have taken him a couple of times to be tested, and we haven’t tested positive yet…all Manny’s on is white rice.” Yesterday, Floyd Mayweather Sr. had mentioned to the Grand Rapids Press that Pacquiao might be taking steroids. The interview quickly caught on with a number of sites with some boxing fans wondering if Pacquiao had been juicing (using steroids) in the past to gain weight for his fights against Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton.
Cotto: “Why Not Have a Rematch”
By Jason Kim: Although the Miguel Cotto vs. Manny Pacquiao bout still has yet to take place, Cotto, 28, is already licking his chops thinking about another fight between the two warriors. At yesterdays’ press conference, Cotto said “If this fight as good as we hope it will be and the public supports it, as we know they’re going to do, then why not have a rematch.” There’s something more than a little off putting seeing a fighter already looking forward to a rematch when the first fight hasn’t even taken place yet.
Pacquiao Still Won’t Admit How Great Cotto is
By Manuel Perez: Manny Pacquiao still stubbornly is not admitting how great of a fighter he’s facing in Miguel Cotto. At yesterday’s press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Pacquiao had this to say about Cotto: “He’s one of the best fighters in the world, not the best fighter.” You notice how Pacquiao had to throw in the last part where he said “not the best fighter.”
Pacquiao Says He Wins No Matter What Cotto Does
By Manuel Perez: Manny Pacquiao says he prepared for any strategy that Miguel Cotto elects to use in their November 14th fight, saying “If I press the fight I’m sure he [Cotto] would run. And if I wait, he’ll come in. That is what will happen, if he either runs or takes the fight to me, it’s all right with me.” So in other words, Pacquiao sounds like he’s maybe too confident right now.
Roach now thinks Pacquiao Won’t be knocking Cotto out
By Manuel Perez: Well, it’s somewhat of a surprise to see that Freddie Roach has revised his previous knockout prediction for Manny Pacquiao over Miguel Cotto. Roach was saying that Pacquiao was going to destroy Cotto without too many problems, but now Roach is whistling a different tune after seeing video of Cotto fighting.
Cotto: The “Golden” Opportunity
By Kevin Pasquale: Ahh, how the world of boxing can create magical storylines, indefatigable heroes, epic matchups, and misleading hype. To this last comment, I give you Pacquiao-Cotto. When watching HBO’s entertaining “24/7” the other night, starring Floyd “I’m Filthy Rich” Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez, I thought about Marquez’s last battle with Manny Pacquiao, in March of last year. I scored that fight eight rounds to four, in favor of the counter-punching Marquez, even though he hit the canvas in that fight.
Philip H. Anselmo Plays The Pick ‘Em Game 2009
By Philip H. Anselmo: What will be the deciding factor in the upcoming Vitali Klitschko— Cristobal Arreola bout? Klitschko’s advanced age and supposed slower reflexes, or Arreola’s weight issues and lack of top-10 experience? That’s easy; Arreola’s glaring deficiencies. Look for Chris to show lots of heart, while for the most part Vitali negates any of his offensive bursts by tying up on the inside and controlling the fight with the jab from the outside. If Arreola plans to bum-rush Vitali early, it won’t work. We’ll see how carrying 250+ pounds around fairs for Arreola through 5 rounds, and from then on, it’ll be all Vitali.
Pacquiao: “He’s [Cotto] Strong and Can Punch, But He’s Not That Fast”
By Eric Thomas: Yesterday, at the New York press conference at Yankee stadium with Manny Pacquiao and World Boxing Association welterweight champion, Pacquiao couldn’t help throwing a few digs at Cotto, saying “He’s strong and can punch, but he’s not that fast.“ The two fighters are on a five city press tour to try and promote their November 14th fight at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
