Edwin Rodriguez vs. Marcus Johnson on May 24th

By Allan Fox: Former world title challenger Edwin Rodriguez (24-1, 16 KO’s) will be back in the ring next month against Marcus Johnson (22-2, 16 KO’s) in a 10 round bout at a still to be determined venue in the United States. Rodriguez, 28, hasn’t fought since losing a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision five months ago to WBA super World super middleweight champion Andre Ward last year in November in Ontario, California. Rodriguez, 28, fought as well as he could against Ward, but he didn’t have the game to beat him.

Marcus Johnson defeats Villereal

johnson3423By Jim Dower: Unbeaten super middleweight prospect Marcus Johnson (18-0, 14 KO’s) defeated Victor Villereal (8-4-2, 4 KO’s) by an eight round unanimous decision on Saturday night at the First Council Casino, in Newkirk, Oklahoma. The final judges’ scores were 80-71, 80-71 and 80-71. Johnson, 23, a former 2004 United States Amateur Light Heavyweight Champion, dominated the entire eight rounds of the bout, knocking Villereal down once in the 6th round and pretty much having his way the rest of the fight.
