Hatton Plans On Retirement After Pacquiao, Marquez & Mayweather Bouts

hat666638By Chris Williams: You got to admire Ricky Hatton (45-1, 32 KOs) for his confidence, because with a tough fight coming up on May 2nd at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada, Hatton is already planning on his next moves after the Pacquiao fighting, hoping to fight Juan Manuel Marquez next later in 2009, and then finish up his career against Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2010. It seems as if Hatton is living in denial more than a little, because I can’t see a fight against either Marquez or Mayweather Jr. happening if Hatton can’t even beat Pacquiao.

Hatton Looking to Put Immediate Pressure On Pacquiao

hatton442366By Manuel Perez: Former light welterweight and welterweight champion Ricky Hatton is counting on his size, power and speed to be an important factor in his May 2nd bout with Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas, Nevada. Hatton plans to jump all over Pacquiao immediately in their bout and try to overpower him in the 1st round. “Attack, attack and attack again,” is Hatton’s plan for Pacquiao. That’s nothing new with him, because Hatton pretty much fights this way all the time regardless of whom he’s fighting.

Pacquiao Voted Fighter of The Year, Calzaghe Comes In Second

pac4354643By Manuel Perez: In a bit a wacky voting, Manny Pacquiao (48-3-2, 36 KOs) was voted as fighter of the year by the Boxing Writers Association of America, and an even worse selection was Joe Calzaghe (46-0, 32 KOs who came in at number #2 in the misplaced voting. There’s not many reasons I can think of to give Pacquiao the fighter of the year, because after all, who did he beat?

Looking at Ricky Hatton’s Next Fight if He Loses to Pacquiao

hatton446444By Chris Williams: There’s no time better than the present to start planning for Ricky Hatton’s next fight after his almost guaranteed loss to Manny Pacquiao on May 2nd. Depending on how badly he’s beaten by Pacquiao, he’ll possibly have to dip really low to find someone serviceable to beat that won’t put him in danger of being knocked out. Pacquiao will probably give him a thorough beating before finishing him off, so it’s best to plan on finding someone that doesn’t have a whole lot of power that could be troublesome potentially for Hatton on the rebound.
