Roach to Try to Keep Pacquiao from Taking Punishment from Cotto

pac4593540By Manuel Perez: Manny Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach gave a hint about the strategy that they will be using against WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto when Roach said that he’s “Training Manny to not get hit,” in an interview at Doghouse boxing yesterday. So, it seems that Pacquiao will be using a bit of the old in and out fighting strategy against Cotto on November 14th.

Cotto – Not if, but when…

cotto342343249By Will Cruz: On November 14, Miguel Cotto will state his case as the best pound for pound fighter in the world. Many writers, fans, and so called “experts” have overlooked Miguel Cotto almost as fast as this fight was put together, and continue to dream about a mega fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather.

Marquez, Pacquiao – The Little Big Men

pac45348By Bal Kang: Boxing has provided us the fight fans with some remarkable stories, some of which have been bought back to life recently.

No doubt most of you have come across the comparisons made to the great Henry Armstrong, the fact that Armstrong won and held at the same time, three world titles in the featherweight, lightweight and Welterweight divisions, something that will never ever be repeated again due to the revised modern rules.

Cotto’s WBO title Will Be On the Line Against Pacquiao

By Manuel Perez: Well, it looks as if WBO welterweight champion Miguel Cotto will be forced now to have his World Boxing Organization title on the line regardless of whether he likes it or not against Manny Pacquiao. All I can say is It figures. The WBO is forcing Cotto’s hand by saying that Cotto has to put the title on the line if the fight is go take place between the weights of 141-147. Since Cotto agreed to fight Pacquiao at a 145 pound catch weight, Cotto will be prevented from coming in at the full 147 pounds for the bout.

What Happens to Pacquiao If He Can’t Stop Cotto?

pac4363435By Manuel Perez: Manny Pacquiao (49-3-2. 37 KO’s) better hope that he can stop Miguel Cotto (34-1, 27 KO’s) as early as possible in this fight, because once Cotto gets his train started, Pacquiao is going to be in for a world of hurt on November 14th at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. What we’re looking at here is a fighter that has had it easy in his last seven fights (with the exception of Pacquiao’s fight against Juan Manuel Marquez), defeating most of his opponents early on without having to take very much punishment in the process.

Why does Pacquiao Care So Much About Winning a 7th title?

pacquiao534By Manuel Perez: I find it amusing to see what lengths that Manny Pacquiao would go to get a chance to win his 7th world title world title. He really wants Miguel Cotto’s WBO title to be on the line, yet he doesn’t want it bad enough that he’d be willing to fight Cotto at the normal 147 pound weight limit for the Welterweight bout. Instead, Pacquiao wants the title on the line at a lighter weight of 145.The World Boxing Organization seem to be bending over backwards to accommodate Pacquiao’s wishes, making it known that the WBO title will be on the line despite it being a catch weight.

Cotto is Not Tito

cotto453456By Mike Burnell: I would absolutely love to contribute more often to this website; however it is challenging to find an interesting, plausible premise in today’s barren boxing landscape. This is why you see so many articles on the same topics from many of the same authors. I will do my best to maintain my credibility by not writing “fast food” articles.

Pacquiao Revamped

pac45324445By Trevor Weis: Manny Pacquiao is dead. The brawling aggressor has changed, evolved; he’s not the Filipino slugger that caught our attention—he’s become the Living Legend that captures our hearts, our respect, and speaks to us on some inexplicable level; he’s become something else completely… He has sprinted full-speed ahead since his humbling loss to El Terrible in 2005, leading us boxing purists on a 10 fight, 4 year winning streak. One thing is certain: he is paying us back for our loyalty.

The WBC Creates a New Diamond Belt, is Pacquiao Interested In It?

pac5463443345By Manuel Perez: Just when I thought boxing couldn’t get any lower than it is, I get this news today about the World Boxing Council creating a new belt called the ‘WBC Diamond Championship” belt, one designed specifically for elite fighters in catch weight bouts. The timing of the creation of the belt appears comes right at the time when World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao are mired in a tug of war about whether their November 14th bout should be for the title or not.
