By Sean McDaniel: Floyd Mayweather Jr’s impressive 12 round unanimous decision last Saturday night over Juan Manuel Marquez may have done enough to reestablish the 32-year-old Mayweather as boxing’s number #1 pound for pound fighter in the sport. The fight was so one-sided that it because somewhat boring to watch after the first few rounds because Mayweather was far too fast and superior defensively for the slower and smaller Marquez to handle.

By Manuel Perez: At yesterday’s press conference at Monday’s press conference at the Beverly Hills hotel, Freddie Roach, the trainer of Manny Pacquiao, had his usual standard pearls of wisdom for the reporters, remarking “I think this is going to be a 12-round fight. No knockout. This guy [Miguel Cotto] is very resilient. If a knockout comes, it comes, but if you go out there looking for a knockout, you might get caught yourself. We have to be very tactical.” In other words, Pacquiao needs to try and protect his noggin from getting tagged by Cotto on November 14th.

By Eric Thomas: Freddie Roach, the trainer for Manny Pacquiao, denies that Manny takes steroids, saying in an interview at Boxing Fanhouse “Well, we [Pacquiao] have taken him a couple of times to be tested, and we haven’t tested positive yet…all Manny’s on is white rice.” Yesterday, Floyd Mayweather Sr. had mentioned to the Grand Rapids Press that Pacquiao might be taking steroids. The interview quickly caught on with a number of sites with some boxing fans wondering if Pacquiao had been juicing (using steroids) in the past to gain weight for his fights against Oscar De La Hoya and Ricky Hatton.

By Jason Kim: Although the Miguel Cotto vs. Manny Pacquiao bout still has yet to take place, Cotto, 28, is already licking his chops thinking about another fight between the two warriors. At yesterdays’ press conference, Cotto said “If this fight as good as we hope it will be and the public supports it, as we know they’re going to do, then why not have a rematch.” There’s something more than a little off putting seeing a fighter already looking forward to a rematch when the first fight hasn’t even taken place yet.

At yesterday’s press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Pacquiao had this to say about Cotto: “He’s one of the best fighters in the world, not the best fighter.” You notice how Pacquiao had to throw in the last part where he said “not the best fighter.”

And if I wait, he’ll come in. That is what will happen, if he either runs or takes the fight to me, it’s all right with me.” So in other words, Pacquiao sounds like he’s maybe too confident right now.

Roach was saying that Pacquiao was going to destroy Cotto without too many problems, but now Roach is whistling a different tune after seeing video of Cotto fighting.

However, Warren wasn’t interested in having the fight take place at this time, wanting the 22-year-old Khan to get more experience before fighting Pacquiao.
