By Dave Lahr: Trainer Freddie Roach has been seventh heaven the last few years in training Manny Pacquiao. Not only has Roach been able to train one of the best fighters in boxing, but he’s also been probably the best paid trainer by far in the sport. However, with Pacquiao about at the end of his career and staring at possibly his one last fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., Roach won’t have a similar star like Pacquiao to take up the slack once Pacquiao is gone.

It’s looking like Mayweather will retire undefeated
By Dave Lahr: With an impressive 41-0 record and with little competitive to speak of in the junior welterweight, welterweight and light middleweight divisions, it’s looking a lot like Floyd Mayweather Jr. will retire undefeated and a very rich man. Whether Mayweather fights Manny Pacquiao or not, I still think Mayweather has no competition and will retire unbeaten. Pacquiao, if he accepts the blood testing and the purse split that Mayweather asks of him, is going to be really over his head against Mayweather.
Arum wants two stadium fights a year
By Dave Lahr: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum says he wants to have two fights a year taking place in one of the huge stadiums, either in New York, Texas or possibly in Los Angeles. Arum’s recent fight with Top Rank fighters Manny Pacquiao and Joshua Clottey sold remarkably well at the Cowboys Stadium, in Arlington, Texas, bringing in 50,000+ fans for the 12 round mismatch bout. It was good numbers and a sign that Arum could succeed with the stadium fights.
Pacquiao needs to fight Foreman if he destroys Cotto
By Chris Williams: If WBA junior middleweight champion Yuri Foreman puts the finish on Miguel Cotto this Saturday night, and if Manny Pacquiao isn’t able to have a fight put together between him and Floyd Mayweather Jr., then I think Pacquiao needs to fight Foreman next rather than someone else like Antonio Margarito. It’s only fair. Pacquiao is ready to take on Cotto if he beats Foreman, so why not fight Foreman if he beats Cotto?
Pacquiao to fight someone in November
By Jim Dower: WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao is going to be fighting in November against someone. If not his preferred opponent Floyd Mayweather Jr., then it will possibly be against fellow Top Rank fighters Miguel Cotto or Antonio Margarito. The number #1 choice is Mayweather, but that fight will come down to whether or not Pacquiao and his promoter Bob Arum can successfully negotiate a deal with Mayweather for the fight.
Merchant believes that Mayweather-Pacquiao bout will take place in November
By Chris Williams: In the latest boxing news, HBO veteran analyst Larry Merchant is saying that he thinks that the mega fight between WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather will be put together and he expects the huge fight to take place in November of this year. In an interview at the Boxingtruth.com, Merchant, speaking about the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao bout, said “Yes, I believe it is going to happen in November. What exclusively I have heard, I cannot reveal entirely, but I think most of the issues have been resolved.“
Pacquiao needs to agree to 3 day cutoff for the blood tests for Mayweather
By Dave Lahr: If Top Rank promoter Bob Arum wants to really have a great chance of setting up a fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and his fighter Manny Pacquiao, he needs to convince Pacquiao to agree to take the Olympic style random blood tests up to three days before the fight with Mayweather. After that, I can see it being reasonable for Pacquiao not to be tested any further until immediately after the fight.
The Mayweather vs. Mosley and the Cotto vs. Pacquiao bouts define who Floyd and Manny really are
By Babatis Banda: A closer look at the two bouts, Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Sugar Shane Mosley and Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto can help define who these fighters really are, and what makes them tick. They can provide the blue print on who wins when they finally do meet. I must admit, I am not a boxing expert, and neither am I a boxing trainer, but an ardent fan of boxing. This two bouts are a perfect choice and they are recent too.
Bernstein thinks that Pacquiao has a chance to beat Mayweather if he doesn’t get hurt in the early going
By Dave Lahr: Showtime boxing analyst Al Bernstein thinks that the proposed fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather will come down to how well the 31-year-old Pacquiao does in the first five rounds of the fight. In an interview at Examiner.com, Bernstein says “If Pacquiao fights him, Mayweather is likely going to hit him with a big right hand in the first five rounds. If Manny Pacquiao doesn’t go down or get badly hurt, Manny Pacquiao is either going to beat Floyd Mayweather or he is going to make it such an exciting, hellacious fight that we are going to be all happy.”
Cotto has to beat Foreman to keep alive his rematch hopes against Pacquiao
By Chris Williams: Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KO’s) is moving up in weight to take on the little known WBA light middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-0, 8 KO’s) on June 5th, at the Yankee Stadium, in the Bronx, New York. Cotto, 29, is doing this to try and capture the WBA title and make himself more appealing for a rematch against Manny Pacquiao, who easily defeated Cotto by a 12th round knockout last November. The thought of a rematch between Cotto and Pacquiao is more than a little nauseating if you’re the average fan who is interested in watching a competitive fight.
