By Chris Williams: Freddie Roach, who trains WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, says that they’ll know within a week if Pacquiao will be fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. next on November 13th. If the fight doesn’t happen, then Roach, and Top Rank promoter Bob Arum, will instead steer Pacquiao into a fight against another Top Rank fighter WBA light middleweight champion Miguel Cotto or former IBF/WBA welterweight champion Antonio Margarito for a fight at the Cowboy Stadium, in Arlington, Texas.

Mayweather/Pacquiao: Who needs who?
By Shaun Campbell: Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather seem to have hit another inevitable snag in the negotiations for the much anticipated “super-fight”. Mayweather has reportedly said that Pacquiao will not get the 50/50 deal (a deal in which to me seems fair). After all both men are considered to be pound for pound kings, and both can attract a massive audience. Whether you like Floyd Mayweather or not, no one at this stage of his career will not buy one of his fights. Serious boxing fans will always purchase a mega fight, and a fight involving either Manny Pacquiao or Floyd Mayweather, is a mega-fight.
Would a Win over Pacquiao Solidify Mayweather’s Position as the Greatest of All-Time?
By Giancarlo Malinconico: Would a win over Manny Pacquiao solidify Floyd “Money” Mayweather’s position as the greatest of all-time? I think it, at least, has to be seriously considered, and I would be one who would believe it to be so. I understand many boxing historians consider the “old-time” fighters the greatest of all-time, and they sometimes scrutinize those with high opinions of current fighters. There are many reasons for this, but one stands out; it is easier to forget about the flaws of a fighter when a lot of time has elapsed since his fighting days.
Golota thinks Pacquiao would beat Mayweather
By Eric Thomas: Former heavyweight contender Andre Golota (41-8-1, 33 KO’s) says he thinks Manny Pacquiao would beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. if they end up fighting. In an interview by Scoop Malinowski at Boxinginsider.com, the 42-year-old Golota had this to say about a potential bout between Mayweather and Pacquiao: “Pacquiao is too much for him [Mayweather]. Too much. He beats him easy. Easy. Mayweather was a great fighter when he was a super featherweight, but he’s too small now. Pacquiao is so fast. he throws so many punches. [Miguel] Cotto is fast, but Pacquiao made him look slow. Pacquiao is something else.”
Mayweather letting the world know Pacquiao isn’t getting a 50-50 deal
By Chris Williams: In this Youtube video, which is dated to before the current negotiations have started between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, you can see Mayweather making his feels clear on the subject of the money split between him and Pacquiao. Mayweather says “everyone knows that I’m not going to fight Manny Pacquiao and he’s going to get a 50-50.”
Mayweather doesn’t need Pacquiao to make huge money
By Dave Lahr: In a poll on Forbes.com, Floyd Mayweather Jr. is ranked at number #31 on the Sport & Celebrity list for making $65 million combined for his fights against Juan Manuel Marquez and Shane Mosley. Pacquiao, in contrast, came in at only number #55 on the list, with his $42 million that he made in his fights against Miguel Cotto and Joshua Clottey. Mayweather’s fight against Shane Mosley brought in 1.4 million pay per view buys. Pacquiao’s bout against Clottey came in with a respectable 700,000 buys.
Pacquiao likely to fight Cotto next if Mayweather bout doesn’t happen
By Chris Williams: Top Rank promoter Bob Arum has his ace in the hole, WBA light middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (35-2, 28 KO’s), raring to go in case the negotiations between World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. don’t pan out. Arum will substitute Cotto in place of Mayweather in a second, and then put the fight in the Cowboy Stadium in Texas, which Arum has already reserved for the occasion well ahead of time. Antonio Margarito, another one of Arum’s fighters, is also an option for Pacquiao, although not quite as appealing because Margarito doesn’t have a boxing license to fight in the United States at this time.
Arum shoots down a report about the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight already being set
By Eric Thomas: Earlier today, there was a report out from NBCsports.com about the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao bout being set for “late November” and taking place in an outside arena being build by Steve Wynn. I knew it was too good to be true. Michael Marley of Examiner.com contacted Arum, who had this to say about the report:
“First of all, the date remains November 13. We’re not going on November 27, because nobody wants to go on Thanksgiving weekend.
Roach thinks Pacquiao will call Mayweather’s bluff: Is Freddie blowing smoke up everyone’s backsides?
By Chris Williams: Trainer Freddie Roach loves to give a good quote. You put a microphone underneath his mouth and he’ll just start talking. In an article at the Star.com, Roach says he thinks that his fighter WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao will agree to the random blood tests that Floyd Mayweather Jr. wants in order to call his bluff. The thinking here is if Mayweather is really serious about wanting to fight Pacquiao, then he would in turn immediately agree to the fight.
Arum thinks the Mayweather-Pacquiao negotiations won’t be taking place too much longer
By Chris Williams: Promoter Bob Arum, who is working for WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, doesn’t think the negotiations between Pacquiao and unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be going on too much longer. Arum still won’t give a date as to when the negotiations will be completed.
There’s also a chance that the negotiations won’t be completed because of differences over the purse split and the random blood testing cutoff. Pacquiao wants a 50-50 deal, which is the same deal as last time when he and Arum unsuccessfully attempted to put together a fight with Mayweather.
