Margarito not bigger than Pacquiao

Image: Margarito not bigger than PacquiaoBy Will Cruz: Read columns stating that Antonio Margarito is the bigger fighter Manny Pacquiao. This statement is not totally correct. There is a false impression that if the other person is vertically taller that he is bigger. When both fighters fight at the same weight, not one would be bigger than the other. The taller fighter gives up body mass, which makes him more easily feel the opponents punches. The fighter with the less vertical height would have additional body mass, which allow stronger punches and gets less affected when hit by the opponent.

Pacquiao faces Margarito for an 8th world title: Forget about a 9th title for Manny because he won’t take that risk

Image: Pacquiao faces Margarito for an 8th world title: Forget about a 9th title for Manny because he won't take that riskBy Chris Williams: Manny Pacquiao will be facing Antonio Margarito for the WBC junior middleweight paper title on Saturday night. Why this fight needs a title, I have no idea. Apparently, Pacquiao wants to collect another title for some reason, as if it registers with boxing fans. I don’t know that too many of them particularly care that Pacquiao is fighting for the vacant World Boxing Council junior middleweight title, because it’s not a popular division and Margarito isn’t a popular fighter. He also has almost prior experience at that weight, having fought only once at that weight in the past six years.

Prediction: Margarito to get desperate and go dirty on Saturday

Image: Prediction: Margarito to get desperate and go dirty on SaturdayBy Bruce Smith: Antonio Margarito is fighting for the pride of his people against the man they call The Mexicutioner, Manny Pacquiao. He doesn’t have the speed or the versatility to compete with Pacquiao and will probably get a thorough beat down as if he were a pinata on Saturday. Margarito has been working his tail off and looking strong physically but I doubt he has the style that would match up well against the P4P King.

Image: Margarito says "There will be a new Mexican champion on November 13th"By Jason Kim: Antonio Margarito doesn’t intend on going out and being another one of Manny Pacquiao’s punching dummies when he steps into the ring with the Filipino star this Saturday night at the Cowboys Stadium. Margarito has worked himself to the bone to get into perhaps the best shape of his life for this fight, and he’s as ready as he’ll ever be to capture the vacant World Boxing Council junior middleweight title with a win over the favored Pacquiao.

Arum says Mosley, Marquez or Cotto could be next for Pacquiao if he gets by Margarito

Image: Arum says Mosley, Marquez or Cotto could be next for Pacquiao if he gets by MargaritoBy Jim Dower: Manny Pacquiao could be facing one of three possible opponents next if he can get by Antonio Margarito this Saturday night. According to Dan Rafael at ESPN, Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum is looking at the prospects of matching Pacquiao up with either Miguel Cotto, Juan Manuel Marquez or Shane Mosley next provided that he beats Margarito. Of the three, Mosley might be the most interesting match-up because he’s the only one of the three that Pacquiao still hasn’t fought and he’s an African American and Pacquiao has never fought one thus far in his career. He fought Joshua Clottey, but he’s from Ghana.

Roach says “Don’t be surprised if we [Pacquiao] get him [Margarito] in the first”

Image: Roach says "Don't be surprised if we [Pacquiao] get him [Margarito] in the first"By Chris Williams: Trainer Freddie Roach has got to be the most vocal trainer that ever existed in his backing of his fighter Manny Pacquiao. Roach has been talking 24/7 about the upcoming fight between Pacquiao and Antonio Margarito for months, and seems to have gone past the normal role for a trainer into the role of a promoter in trying to gain interest for the fight. However, Roach has often worked against drawing interest in the fight by often talking down the bout by putting Margarito down as a fighter without skills.

Pacquiao says the catch-weight “Benifits me”

Image: Pacquiao says the catch-weight "Benifits me"By Dan Ambrose: Manny Pacquiao openly admitted in a recent meeting with reporters that the 150 pound catch-weight will be benefiting him and not his opponent Antonio Margarito on November 13th. When asked who the catch-weight will benefit, Pacquiao said “The catch-weight will benefit me.” He then explained why, saying “He will have to come down from 154.” Pacquiao will be fighting Margarito for the vacant World Boxing Council junior middleweight title in this fight held at the Cowboys Stadium, in Arlington. Texas. It’s unclear who’s idea it was to have the fight take place at 150 rather than the full regulation weight of 154 for the vacant title, but you can bet that it wasn’t Margarito that asked for this.

Roach accepts Margarito’s apology – News

Image: Roach accepts Margarito's apology - NewsBy Chris Williams: Trainer Freddie Roach apparently has buried the hatchet and has accepted the apology given to him by Antonio Margarito, who earlier in the week made fun of Roach by mimicking him in shaking his hands in what appeared to some an attempt to tease Roach about his Parkinson’s disease condition. Margarito later said he wasn’t mimicking Roach about that, and was merely showing that he shaking with fear because Roach had been predicting that his fighter Manny Pacquiao will knock Margarito out. Whatever the case, Margarito still apologized for having imitated Roach, as did Brandon Rios, who was seen imitating Roach in the video.

Margarito denies making fun of Roach about his Parkinson’s disease

Image: Margarito denies making fun of Roach about his Parkinson's diseaseBy Chris Williams: Freddie Roach is still upset about a video that Antonio Margarito and Brandon Rios were seen in where they both appeared to be mimicking him the way he shakes sometimes because of his Parkinson’s disease. Roach thinks they were making fun of him about his disease, and isn’t happy about it. Margarito, however, denies he was making fun of Roach’s condition and instead says he was shaking out of fear of the things that Roach has been saying about him. In an article at Ringtv.com, Margarito has this to say: “I was not making fun of Freddie. When I was shaking my hands, I was just saying ‘Man, I’m really scared.’ I think that people misunderstood that. That’s what happened. It was a misunderstanding. I have nothing against Freddie Roach. I respect him as a great trainer.”
