Jack-Bute punch stats

Floyd Mayweather and Badou JackBy Scott Gilfoid: According to the punch stats from last night’s fight between WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack (20-1-2, 12 KOs) and Lucian Bute (32-3-1, 25 KOs), Jack out-landed the 36-year-old Bute by a wide margin. Jack landed almost a 100 more punches.

It’s not the fight I saw. I thought Bute landed more shots and I counted him landing many more punches than Jack in their fight at the DC Armory in Washington, DC. The Jack-Bute fight was scored a draw by the scores 117-111 for Jack, and 114-114 and 114-114. I thought a draw was fair. I have no problems with that score.

James DeGale vs. Badou Jack to still go ahead

Badou Jack vs Lucian ButeBy Scott Gilfoid: Last night we saw two controversial outcomes with WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack (20-1-1, 12 KOs) having to settle for a questionable (some would say gift) 12 round draw against former IBF 168lb champion Lucian Bute (32-3, 25 KOs) in Showtime’s mini-tournament at the DC Armory in Washington, DC.

The fights were both shown on Showtime Championship Boxing last night in the U.S, and you have to wonder what all the fans were thinking in seeing Bute and Jack look less than dazzling. To me, they booth showed how horrible the current champions are in the super middleweight division.

Lucian Bute vs. Badou Jack analysis and prediction

Badou Jack and Lucian ButeBy Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (32-3, 25 KOs) has a tough fight on his hands tonight against the younger 32-year-old WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack (20-1-1, 12 KOs) on Showtime at the DC Armory in Washington, DC.

Bute, 36, is up there in age and clearly is fighting at this point based on his boxing brain and his punching power. Those are the only things he has left. He’s not as fast as he once was, and not as quick on his feet.

The winner of these two fights will be facing each other later this year in a unification fight. Most experts expect DeGale and Badou to emerge as the winners of these two contests, but you never know. Bute, 36, showed last November that he still has a lot left in the tank in his close 12 round decision loss to DeGale in Quebec.
