By Jason Kim: What we saw from Devon Alexander (21-1, 13 KO’s) in his last two fights is that he struggles if his opponents put continuous pressure on him and tag him with hard jabs, as Timothy Bradley and Andriy Kotelnik both did. Alexander won the Kotelnik fight by controversy in a 12 round unanimous decision, and was beaten by Bradley in a 10th round technical decision.
Lucas Matthysse
Alexander-Matthysse: Lucas might have to be especially good to win a decision against Devon
By Dan Ambrose: Argentinian Lucas Matthysse (28-1, 26 KO’s) is taking a big risk by agreeing to face former IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (21-1, 13 KO’s) in his own home town on Saturday at the Family Arena in Saint Charles, Missouri. Timothy Bradley wanted no part of fighting Alexander in Missouri and the two had to settle for a fight at the Pontiac Silverdome, in Pontiac, Michigan last January. Alexander fought poorly in the last four rounds of the fight and couldn’t continue after a clash of heads in the 10th.

Alexander-Matthysse: A loss for Devon on Saturday will be a huge blow to his career
By Eric Thomas: Whatever former IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (21-1, 13 KO’s) does on Saturday night he’s got to fight tooth and nail against knockout artist Lucas Matthysse (28-1, 26 KO’s) in their World Boxing Organization (WBO) light welterweight eliminator bout at the Family Arena, in Saint Charles, Missouri. Alexander can’t afford to look bad like he did in his last fight against Timothy Bradley last January. A lot of boxing fans felt that Alexander quit in that fight after clashing heads with Bradley in the 10th.
Summer Boxing: Alexander-Matthysse, Klitschko-Haye, Williams-Lara, Marquez-Ramos, Klitschko-Adamek
By Alexis Aviles: Boxing in the summer is usually the slow point of the year gearing you for the more anticipated fights happening later in the fall. A year ago the most we got was Juan Diaz vs Juan Manuel Marquez in their second fight, which failed to live up to their first fight. We also had Miguel Cotto vs Yuri Foreman which saw Cotto win by body-shot KO after Foremans leg gave out a few times. Jean Pascal vs Chad Dawson in a fight that as Pascal was getting knocked out, the fight was stopped and the technical decision was given to Pascal.

By Dan Ambrose: Former IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (21-1, 13 KO’s) will be looking to impress the doubters on Saturday night against Argentinian Lucas Matthysse (28-1, 26 KO’s) at the Family Arena in Saint Charles, Missouri.
