By William Mackay: In a long awaited rematch, Lenny Daws ( 20-1-1, 8 KO’s) stopped Barry Morrison (17-4, 7 KO’s) in the 10th round on Friday night to capture the BBBofC British light welterweight title at the York Hall, in Bethnal Green. In the 10th round, Daws dropped a tired out Morrison with a weak left hand that sent him down on his knees. Morrison sat there, looked at his corner, shook his head as if to say ‘no’, and then was counted out by the referee.
Daws Defeats McDonagh
By Nate Anderson: Former BBBofC British light welterweight champion Lenny Daws (19-1-1, 7 KOs) overcame a bad start to defeat Peter McDonagh (13-14, 2 KOs) by a narrow 10-round decision on Saturday night to capture the vacant BBBofC English light welterweight title at the York Hall, in Bethnal Green, London. Referee John Keane scored the fight 97-94 in Daws’ favor.
Daws Too Much For Savrinovics
By Nate Anderson: Former BBBofC British light welterweight champion Lenny Daws (18-1-1, 7 KOs) took apart an over-matched Sergejs Savrinovics (4-11-1, 2 KOs) on Saturday night, stopping him in the 6th round in Robin Park Centre, Wigan, in Lancashire. With a series of hard body shots, Daws, 30, caused referee Howard John Foster to step in and halt the fight in the 6th round as Savrinovics absorbing terrible punishment along the ropes.

Champion John Murray (Manchester, England) and challenger Lee McAllister (Aberdeen, Scotland) squared off on Saturday night, sporting records of 25-0 and 27-1 respectively. This topped ITV’s first ‘Big Fight Live’ of 2009 and may have had more publicity if it wasn’t for another British lightweight, Amir Khan. An intriguing battle saw Murray retain his title and unbeaten record, despite a slightly flawed display.
