Kell Brook: I’ve got the power to KO heavyweights

YouTube video

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Kell “Special K” Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) was in the bragging mood last night after his wipeout 2nd round knockout of mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier (25-3, 17 KOs) at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, UK. Brook knocked the 31-year-old Bizier down twice in the 2nd round before referee Marcus McDonnell stopped the contest at 2:15 of the round after seeing how hurt Bizier was.

Kell Brook obliterates Kevin Bizier

brook6By Scott Gilfoid: Just as I predicted would happen, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) totally wiped out an over-matched #1 IBF Kevin Bizier (25-3, 17 KOs) in stopping him in the 2nd round on Saturday night in their fight at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, UK. Brook bloodied the slow and plodding 31-year-old Bizier, and then dropped him twice in the 2nd round. The fight was halted after the second knockdown.

Bizier looked like he didn’t belong in the ring with Brook in this fight. Bizier had no real power to keep Brook off of him, and he was getting nailed with right hands repeatedly. Brook looked as robotic and slow as usual. He just didn’t have any resistance to make him slow down with his offense. Had this been someone with talent like Errol Spence or Shawn Porter, Brook likely would have been holding on and trying to keep from getting hit.

It’s difficult to say what Bizier could have done differently. To be sure, Bizier should have moved his head more, and kept his guard high enough to block the head shots that Brook was throwing at him. It also would have been nice if Bizier had thrown some actual punches, but I guess he was too busy taking shots for him to be able to respond with any offense of his own.

Khan: Brook is stupid for calling out Golovkin

khan4By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan thinks IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook came off looking like a stupid little girl recently when Brook said he wants to fight IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin at a catch-weight of 157lbs.

Khan thinks that Golovkin doesn’t know who Brook is, and he would seriously hurt the 29-year-old welterweight if ever given the chance to fight him. Both Brook and his promoter Eddie Hearn mentioned wanting to make the fight with GGG this past week at a catch-weight of 157lbs. To me, it looks like Brook is trying to get attention like the kind Amir Khan is receiving with his fight against WBC middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez in their fight on May 7.

Brook: After I beat Bizier, they have to put me #1 at 147

brook43By Scott Gilfoid: IBF welterweight champion Kell “Special K” Brook (35-0, 24 KOs) is under the impression that a win tonight over his mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier (25-2, 17 KOs) will earn him the respect from the boxing world, and he’ll then be seen as the number one fighter in all of the 147lb division.

Brook and Bizier will be fighting on Sky Sports from the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, UK. Bizier, has lost two out of his last six fights in defeats against Jo Jo Dan. Bizier, 31, isn’t seen as one of the main talents in the welterweight division.

On the contrary, he’s seen as someone that the International Boxing Federation chose to put as their number one fighter after Bizier beat Frederick Lawson and little known Fouad El Massoudi. Those are Bizier’s last two fights.

Hearn wants fans to be more patriotic

hearn444By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn wants the fans to be more patriotic towards their fighters. I’m not too sure why Hearn is picking this time for him to want the fans to be more patriotic. Is it because the Kell Brook vs. Kevin Bizier fight failed to sell out? At any rate, Hearn wants the fans to be supporting the fighters.

I think the British fans would gladly support fighters like Brook if he were facing better opposition. I mean, fans support largely depends the quality of their opposition. Look at Floyd Mayweather Jr. When he fought Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Manny Pacquiao, he received a ton of support. On the flipside, when he fought Andre Berto and Robert Guerrero, the support was less so.

“I feel like we need to be more patriotic over our fighters,” said Hearn to skysports.com. “Kell Brook is the best welterweight in the world.

Kell Brook: I will fight Gennady Golovkin

brook5333By Scott Gilfoid: Earlier this week, news came out about how Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn said he was interested in matching his fighter IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24 KOs) against unbeaten IBF/IBO/WBA middleweight Gennady “GGG” Golovkin at a catch-weight of 157lbs.

At the time, many boxing fans felt that Hearn was just name-dropping in order to attract interest in Brook’s fight this Saturday night against #1 IBF contender Kevin Bizier (25-2, 17 KOs), who Brook will be facing at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, UK. There are rumors that the fight failed to sell out.

Hearn wants Bradley for Brook after Bizier fight

hearn53By Scott Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn wants Tim Bradley (33-1-1, 13 KOs) for his fighter IBF welterweight champion Kell “Special K” Brook (35-0, 24 KOs) after his upcoming fight against his over-matched mandatory challenger Kevin Bizier (25-2, 17 KOs) this Saturday night on March 26 at the Sheffield Arena in Sheffield, UK.

Unfortunately for Brook and Hearn, Bradley, 32, has a fight on April 9 against Manny Pacquiao on HBO PPV. Bradley is expected to lose that fight, and he could even be knocked out. Hearn doesn’t care. He STILL wants Bradley for Brook in the summer, even if Bradley gets whipped by Pacquiao first. Hearn doesn’t care.

Hearn thinks the British boxing public will still want to see Brook fight Bradley regardless of what happens in Bradley’s fight against Pacquiao.

Froch: Kell Brook is the replacement for Mayweather

frochBy Scott Gilfoid: Well, I’m starting to wonder if former super middleweight title holder Carl Froch has gone over the deep end. He’s now saying that he sees IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (35-0, 24 KOs) as the heir to Floyd Mayweather Jr’s throne. Froch thinks that the soon to be 30-year-old Brook can beat anyone in the welterweight division.

Froch also believes that Brook can beat all the same guys that Mayweather has beaten in his career. This means that Brook can beat Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, Manny Pacquiao, Marcos Maidana, and Miguel Cotto. If Brook would stop fighting mediocre opposition, then maybe we could find out if he’s any good or not. A fight against Gennady Golovkin would be a good start for him. Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn has been yapping about wanting to make that fight. If he throws a ton of cash at Golovkin and his promoters at K2 Promotions, I bet thst fight could get made. But somehow, I don’t think Hearn is at all serious about wanting to let Brook fight GGG.
