Crolla sees Brook having it tough against GGG

brook3

By Scott Gilfoid: WBA lightweight champion Anthony Crolla likes the talent that unbeaten welterweight Kell Brook possesses, but he believes he’s going to have a real tough fight on his hands next week in his title challenge against unbeaten IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin on September 10. Brook is moving up two weight classes to fight Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOS) at the O2 Arena in London, England.

While Brook has put on a great deal of weight and is actually out-weighing GGG at the moment, he still figures to be hopelessly over-matched when he gets inside the ring on September 10. Brook hasn’t had the right preparation to get him ready for this fight unless you consider sparring with domestic level fighter Liam Williams as preparation for Golovkin.

Golovkin 162.9, Brook 167.8 – 7-day weights

golovkin4

By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) came in at 162.9 pounds for the World Boxing Council’s mandated 7-day weigh-in for his match on September 10 against challenger Kell “Special K” Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London, England. For his part, Brook weighed in five pounds heavier at 167.8lbs.

This is nine pounds lighter than Brook weighed during the 30-day check weigh, when he came in at 176lbs. With a week to go before the fight, it’s unlikely that Brook will be trimming much more weight off other than water weight to get down to the 160lb limit for the fight. Believe me, Brook is going to be as big as a house when he walks out there to start exchanging blows with Golovkin on September 10, so don’t be fooled by his current weight of just 167. My guess is Brook will be in the 180s when he gets in there.

This is a lot of weight that Brook is still carrying around with him. My guess is Brook is still in the mid-170s, but that he took some extra water weight off already to start the process of getting down to 160 to make weight. If Brook is weighing 176, then he would have needed to start draining down already last week to get to 160.

Will Brook’s training help him against Golovkin?

golovkin4

By Scott Gilfoid: In a sign of pure desperation, Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) has turned to cutting edge training at Sheffield Hallam University to try and help him beat the devastating knockout artist Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) in their fight next week on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

The clinicians at Hallam University have the 30-year-old Brook using a variety of exercises to try and increase his stamina and strength ahead of his fight against the Kazakhstan fighter Triple G this month. And while Golovkin has stayed true to his old school training methods used my his trainer Abel Sanchez in the mountains at Big Bear, California, Brook is trying new age techniques to try and best GGG.

I don’t know that Brook is anymore ahead of the game with his new training methods than he would have been had he stuck with his past training regimen. When it’s all been said and done, Brook has probably been doing little more than spinning his wheels by messing about at Sheffield’s Hallam University with his extra training.

Leonard: Kell Brook needs to prove the doubters wrong

brook7

By Scott Gilfoid: It seems like the boxing world is giving Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) very little chance of beating IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (35-0, 32 Kos), and you can add the great former world champion Sugar Ray Leonard among the doubters who don’t think “Special K” is talented enough to get the job done on September 10.

Like many other people, Leonard is skeptical about Brook having the mental and physical fortitude to take the big power shots to the body and head from Golovkin for 12 long rounds on the night. Leonard says that Brook needs to prove people wrong by going out there and getting the job done against Triple G.

Golovkin-Book: Kell has solid chance of beating Triple G

Image: Golovkin-Book: Kell has solid chance of beating Triple G

By Earl E: Most people who follow boxing are counting out Kell Brook in his fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England. However, if you were to evaluate your prediction, based on how judges score rounds, you may think otherwise. Of course, this analysis is based on Brook surviving the 12 rounds against the knockout artist, Gennady Golovkin.

I believe Brook has a solid chance in making it through the 12 rounds to hear a decision, because Brook has fought 11 out of 36 fights for a decision, or 31% of his fights went to decision. On the other hand, Golovkin has fought 35 fights and only 3 went to decision, for a low 9%.

Murray predicts Golovkin stopping Brook within six rounds

golovkin42222

(Martin Murray seen here getting worked over by Gennady Golovkin) By Scott Gilfoid: Former world title challenger Martin Murray is predicting that Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) won’t last long against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) in their fight on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England. Murray (33-4, 16 KOs) was knocked out by Golovkin in 11 rounds last year in January 2015 after running all around the ring the entire fight to keep from getting stopped.

It was a pure survival oriented fight for Murray after the first two rounds. You could see the 33-year-olld Murray make the conscience decision by the third round to just try and survive rather than win the fight. It then got really ugly with Murray spending two rounds trying to clinch Golovkin nonstop the way Brook did against Shawn Porter in 2014.

In this case, Golovkin wasn’t having any of the holding business from Murray, so he would step back and nail him with shots each time he would come forward to put him in a bear hug to stall out the fight. Goodness knows, the referee wasn’t doing anything to control Murray’s clinching, so Golovkin took matters into his own fans by nailing Murray with hard shots each time he tried to clinch him.

Callum Smith vs. Norbert Nemesapati on Golovkin-Brook card

Image: Callum Smith vs. Norbert Nemesapati on Golovkin-Brook card

By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten #1 WBC super middleweight contender Callum Smith (20-0, 15 KOs) will be fighting little known Hungarian Norbert Nemesapati (21-3, 16 KOs) in a scheduled 12 round bout on the undercard of the Gennady “GGG” Golovkin vs. Kell Brook card on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England. I can’t say I’ve ever heard of the 21-year-old Nemesapati before.

I did notice that he’s coming off of a loss to someone named Umar Salamov last August. That’s not good. I mean, how do you get motivated to see Callum Smith fight an unknown guy that lost his last fight to another unknown fighter? I’m just saying. What’s the point of even having Callum on the Golovkin-Brook undercard if he’s not going to be fighting someone good? But then again, Smith’s resume is littered with unknown guys like Nemesapati, so it’s not all that surprising that he’s STILL fighting lesser fighters at this point in his career.

You can argue that Nemesapati is probably a better fighter than Smith’s last opponent Cesar Hernan Reynoso (14-8-3, 7 KOs), who he struggled to beat last May at Goodison Park in Liverpool, UK. Smith did not look good in that fight for an instant.

Golovkin vs. Brook: Kell says he’s taking GGG’s belts

Image: Golovkin vs. Brook: Kell says he's taking GGG's belts

By Dan Ambrose: It’s understood by all that Gennady “GGG” Golovkin is the favorite against Kell Brook going into their fight in less than two weeks from now on September 10, but Brook doesn’t care that he’s the underdog. He says he’s got the talent to pull off the upset and shock the boxing world by beating the 34-year-old Triple G and taking his IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight titles in their fight at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Brook hasn’t given away his special game plan for the fight as of yet, but he has let leak the fact that he plans on using movement to stifle GGG’s offense. Just how much movement Brook plans on using is the big question.

Galahad: Brook will give Golovkin a boxing lesson

Image: Galahad: Brook will give Golovkin a boxing lesson

By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten super bantamweight Kid Galahad been training alongside Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) and he’s seen enough of him recently to believe that he’ll give IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) his first loss of his career on September 10. Galahad thinks Brook is going give Triple G a boxing lesson inside the ring in their fight on HBO and Sky Box Office pay-per-view at the O2 Arena in London, England.

Galahad says that Brook has fought higher quality opposition than Golovkin before. Galahad doesn’t say who that it is, but it would seem that he’s referring to the twice beaten Shawn Porter. Just how Porter could be seen as a better fighter than Golovkin when he’s been beaten twice is unknown. Just getting beaten twice would seem to indicate that Porter is not better than Golovkin.

Golovkin: I won’t give Brook a chance for a decision

golovkin8

By Allan Fox: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin says he doesn’t plan on letting his fight against British fighter Kell “Special K” Brook go to a decision on September 10. Golovkin doesn’t want to let the judges decide his fight, which is why he intends on going after the 30-year-old Brook to get the knockout.

Golovkin isn’t bothered about the UK fans cheering for Brook, because he plans on during it into a “drama show” to entertain the British fans by looking to slug with Brook at every opportunity.

Golovkin says if Brook stands in front of him, he will beat him and finish him off. If Brook moves around, Golovkin says it will take him a little bit longer but he’ll still get to him and knock him out.
