Sanchez: Golovkin will KO Brook by 6th

BOXING

By Scott Gilfoid: Well, I hope Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) tries hard to impress the large throng of fans that show up tonight for his fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs), because he may not have much time to enjoy the fight before he’s blasted to smithereens by the powerful Kazakhstan fighter.

Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez is predicting a quick knockout tonight with GGG splattering the 30-year-old Brook on the canvas by round six. Sanchez knows more about Golovkin and what he’s capable of doing than anyone on this earth right now, so it’s hard to discount what he’s saying. Sanchez has seen Brook in action against one of his fighters in the past in Carson Jones, who Brook twice beat. Sanchez knows what Brook is capable of, and he also is well aware of his many limitations as a fighter.

Nelson shocked at Golovkin’s appearance

golovkin1111

(Artwork by SG) By Scott Gilfoid: Johnny Nelson was surprised at the condition of IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) at last Friday’s weigh-in for his fight tonight against Kell “Special K” Brook (36-0, 25 KOs), and he wonders whether he started training camp late for their September 10 fight. Nelson notes that the 34-year-old Golovkin’s face looked bad around his eyes and jaw areas.

Unlike others, Nelson sees Golovkin’s condition as more of a case of him having gotten a late start in training camp rather than him being physically ill. Never the less, it amounts to be the same. If Golovkin isn’t 100% tonight when he steps inside the ring against the 30-year-old Brook, then it really doesn’t matter whether it’s from him having gotten a late start in training camp or ill. He’s going to have problems whatever the cause.

Froch expects Brook to beat Golovkin

froch8944

By Scott Gilfoid: Carl Froch, sporting his new surgically reduced nose, says he thinks unbeaten Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) can pull off the upset this Saturday night against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) this Saturday night at the O2 Arena in London, England. Froch points out that Golovkin appears to be ill with some kind of virus possibly and he looked weary at today’s weigh-in for the fight.

Froch notes that Brook is VERY confident, and full of energy. He’s also about the same size as Triple G, says Froch. Still, Froch believes that Brook will need to fight the perfect fight for him to have a chance of winning. If he messes up on his tactics, then he’ll lose the match. Froch suggests that Brook focus on using movement and speed early on so that he can avoid getting hit by Golovkin.

Golovkin vs Brook: Is Gennady Ill?

BOXING

By Scott Gilfoid: Despite IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin looking quite ill for the last two days, his trainer Abel Sanchez dismisses the idea that his fighter Triple G is sick ahead of his big fight this Saturday night against Kell Brook at the O2 Arena in London, England.

When asked about whether Golovkin was in ill health, Sanchez denied it, saying that his fighter left early from the press conference on Thursday due to him wanting to let Brook have the moment for himself. However, there’s no mistaking that Golovkin does not look good physically around the eyes and his face looks gaunt.

Watch: Golovkin, Brook make weight

BOXING

By Scott Gilfoid: A calm and composed IBF/IBO/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) successfully made weight on Friday in weighing in at a very well-conditioned 158.8 pounds for his title defense against unbeaten welterweight Kell “Special K” Brook (36-0, 32 KOs) this Saturday night on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England.

A very energetic and excited Brook weighed in slightly heavier at 159.4lbs. Brook looked good for the most part, but he did look more drained today than he was yesterday. Brook also looked dry around the mouth area and slightly emaciated. I’d be surprised if even a drop of water touched Brook’s mouth in the last day.

Kell Brook admits to feeling afraid

BOXING

By Scott Gilfoid: In a refreshing bit of a honesty, Kell Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) revealed today that he’s scared of his coming fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) this Saturday night on HBO World Championship Boxing and on Sky Sports Box Office pay-per-view.

After admitting that he’s feeling fear ahead of his match against Golovkin, Brook then rationalized that fear is a good thing for him because it will make him fight better this Saturday night in his match with Golovkin at the O2 Arena in London, England. In other words, Brook sees fear as a good thing that will work for him rather than against him in this fight.

Hearn: Golovkin looks drawn in the face – Watch video

BOXING

By Scott Gilfoid: Kell Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn came away from Thursday’s final press conference thinking Gennady “GGG” Golovkin looked drained in the face for his title defense this Saturday night against Brook at the O2 Arena in London, England. Hearn thinks that could help Brook win the fight. He also believes that the pressure of the fight is getting to Golovkin.

Personally, I think Golovkin looks good and not drained at all. It’s Brook who looks drained to me. I get the feeling that he’s having a devil of a time trying to lose the weight to get to 160 to make weight. I do think Brook will make it, but I doubt that he’s going to be feeling good on Saturday night when he comes into the ring sluggish from having gained back all the water weight that he took off to make weight.

It appears that Hearn hasn’t seen Golovkin’s past fights, because he always looks this way before his matches. He has to drop 10 pounds or so to make the 160 limit, and he always looks a little lean in the week of his fights.

Watch: Golovkin vs. Brook final press conference

YouTube video

By Scott Gilfoid: Well, IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin looked INCREDIBLE at today’s final press conference with his opponent Kell Brook for their fight this Saturday night. I wish I could say the same thing about Brook looking good. Believe it or not, Brook looked weight drained today, like a fighter who was struggling to make the 160lb limit.

See for yourself. Watch the video of the press conference to see how drained looking Brook is. It’s not surprising, really. Brook reportedly started off his training camp at 185, and he’s steadily been draining down to try and get to the 160l pound limit. We’re about 25 pounds that Brook will have to drop before he gets to the 160lb limit.

Sanchez: Kell Brook is a “science experiment” for Golovkin

BOXING

By Scott Gilfoid: Abel Sanchez, the trainer for IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs), says he sees the blown up welterweight Kell “Special K” Brook (36-0, 25 KOs) as a “science experiment” for his fighter this Saturday night on September 10 at the O2 Arena in London, England. Sanchez says that Brook is going to “brutally discover” what it’s like to be in the ring with Triple G, when he faces him this Saturday.

Brook has spent over two months bulking up to the mid-170s for this fight, and he hopes that his extra size will help him pull off an upset in this fight. Sanchez doesn’t see it as possible, and he expects it to be a brutal reality check for the 30-year-old Brook.
