Hearn: Devon Alexander will have no choice but to fight Brook in the UK if I win purse bids

Image: Hearn: Devon Alexander will have no choice but to fight Brook in the UK if I win purse bidsBy Scot Gilfoid: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is counting on being able to win a purse bid to get IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander over to the UK to fight his fighter #1 IBF mandatory challenger Kell Brook in early 2013. Hearn envisions packing a 12,000 seat stadium in England for a Brook vs. Alexander fight. However, for this to happen Hearn is going to need mighty deep pockets to beat out Alexander’s promotional company Golden Boy Promotions for the purse bid to determine where the fight will take place.

Hearn said to Sky Sports News “If I win the purse bids then Alexander has no choice but to come and fight in England or vacate the title. I know we can easily fill the 12,000 Sheffield Arena and we also have significant domestic and international TV backing.”

Cunningham: Kell Brook will have to fight Alexander in U.S

Image: Cunningham: Kell Brook will have to fight Alexander in U.SBy Scott Gilfoid: Well, it looks like Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn’s dream of getting IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (24-1, 13 KO’s) over to the UK to fight his guy Kell Brook (29-0, 19 KO’s) isn’t going to be happening. Alexander’s trainer Kevin Cunningham shot that idea down straight away, saying it’s not going to happen.

Cunningham told Fighthype.com “The only way it happens [Brook-Alexander fight] is if it’s in the U.S, because there’s no how we will go overseas.”

Kell Brook likely to have to fight Devon Alexander in Saint Louis, not the UK

Image: Kell Brook likely to have to fight Devon Alexander in Saint Louis, not the UKBy Scott Gilfoid: Kell Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn is hoping that IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (24-1, 13 KO’s) will either agree to fight Brook in the UK or simply vacate his title altogether in order for Brook to get his way. However, the word is Alexander has no intention of vacating the IBF strap, and it’s still unclear whether he’ll fight Brook next or make him wait while Alexander looks for a much more lucrative fight for his first defense of his International Boxing Federation title.

One thing is clear, though, and that’s when Alexander does get around to defending his title agaisnt Brook, it sure isn’t going to be taking place in the UK. That’s not going to happen, and I doubt that Hearn will be able to out-bid Alexander’s promoters at Golden Boy Promotions in order to get the fight in the UK.

Hearn: Khan will have to accept a 50-50 deal for Kell Brook

Image: Hearn: Khan will have to accept a 50-50 deal for Kell BrookBy Scott Gilfoid: Buoyed by his fighter Kell Brook’s easy win over a fighter that few boxing fans have ever heard of last Saturday night in Brook’s IBF welterweight eliminator bout against Hector Saldivia, Brook’s promoter Eddie Hearn is now talking that Amir Khan will have to accept a 50-50 deal in terms of money split if he wants to fight Brook. The last I heard, Khan is laughing at the idea of fighting Brook, so Hearn is wasting his breath with his requests for parity in the financial split for his dream fight between Brook and Khan.

Hearn told IFilm London “We’re talking about a fight that would pay Khan 2 million quid. Where else is he going to get that kind of money? We could land a stadium fight in April. We’re [Brook] filling stadiums; we’re the mandatory challenger for the IBF title. The terms would have to be 50-50. But he’d [Khan] get destroyed by Kell. He couldn’t live with Kell Brook. Ricky Hatton is a legend. He couldn’t live with Kell Brook.”

Hearn believes that Kell Brook would destroy both Khan and Hatton

Image: Hearn believes that Kell Brook would destroy both Khan and HattonBy Marcus Stewart: British boxing promoter Eddie Hearn stated after Kell Brook’s marvelous performance against the hard Argentine Hector Saldivia that his man would comfortably beat both Amir Khan and Ricky Hatton on a youtube video broadcasted by iFilm London.

I believe Kell would give both of them problems as he is an obvious talent and arguably the best fighter in the UK right now. Nevertheless Khan has proven that he’s a tremendous warrior and genuine contender after becoming a two time world champion in the super lightweight division. Also Ricky Hatton is without a doubt a legend in the sport and a complete monster in the ring.

Hearn: Kell Brook is going to be one of the biggest boxing stars

Image: Hearn: Kell Brook is going to be one of the biggest boxing starsBy Scott Gilfoid: Promoter Eddie Hearn thinks the skies the limit for his young fighter unbeaten Kell Brook (29-0, 19 KO’s) after his 3rd round TKO win over Argentinian Hector Saldivia (41-3, 32 KO’s) to earn the IBF welterweight mandatory position last Saturday night in Sheffield. The win, one of the easiest of Brook’s eight year career, seems to have planted some ideas into Hearn’s head because he’s thinking that IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander will just give his IBF title up to Brook instead of fighting him.

In addition to that, Hearn is now seeing Brook as a huge boxing star despite the fact that the best fighter he’s ever fought was Carson Jones, who arguably beat him last July. You take that fight outside of the UK and Brook would have a loss on his record in my view.

Hearn thinks Devon Alexander will vacate title and let Kell Brook grab the strap

Image: Hearn thinks Devon Alexander will vacate title and let Kell Brook grab the strapBy Scott Gilfoid: It was both funny and sad to see Eddie Hearn, the promoter for Kell Brook (29-0, 19 KO’s), dreaming up a hoped for scenario where newly crowned IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander (24-1, 13 KO’s) will vacate his title and then let Hearn’s fighter Brook fight for the vacant IBF strap against whoever. Hearn honestly thinks that Alexander won’t want to fight Brook because he thinks it’ll be too tough a fight for him or it won’t be worth the little money that the fight would bring in if it were staged in the United States.

Hearn said to reporter Kugan Cassius at iFILM London “I wouldn’t be surprised if Devon Alexander relinquished the world title. I don’t believe he’ll be chomping at the bit to fight Kell Brook…That might happen with Jamie McDonnell as well because Leo Santa Cruz [the IBF bantamweight champion] may move up.”

Brook’s future looks bright in beating Saldivia

YouTube video
By James Hansworth: Kell Brook (29-0, 19 KO’s) moved one step closer to a world title by stopping Hector Saldivia (41-3, 32 KO’s) in round 3 at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire, United Kingdom.

The relatively unknown and untested Argentinean came with a high knockout ratio but was unable to show his power due to a technically strong performance from Brook.

Classy Brook dispatches Saldivia in 3

Image: Classy Brook dispatches Saldivia in 3By Ed Hoyle: After winning a close yet undisputed twelve round decision against American Carson Jones in his last outing, hot British prospect, Kell Brook was for the first time in his career, seemingly under pressure to produce a performance against the cumbersome yet hard hitting Argentinean, Hector Saldivia.

Brook’s lack of training structure and poor dieting had been cited for the unsatisfactory Jones performance. Naturally new staff additions were made to Brook’s camp and with a fresh emphasis being placed on training and conditioning, an astonishingly ripped Brook looked to be in the best shape of his career to date.

Khan to Brook: You still need to prove yourself against a top 50 opponent

Image: Khan to Brook: You still need to prove yourself against a top 50 opponentBy Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan wasn’t about to smother unbeaten Kell Brook (29-0, 19 KO’s) with praise after seeing Brook beat an over-matched opponent Hector David Saldivia (41-3, 32 KO’s) in the 3rd round to earn a shot at the winner of the Devon Alexander vs. Randall Bailey fight.

Khan was short and too the point by summing up what Brook needs to do before he’ll fight him, saying on his twitter “Well done, Kell. Did what he had to. Time to move up in game. He’s been sayin this for past 10 fights. Before you think of fight me or Ricky [Hatton] PROVE yourself [against] someone in the top 50. lol.”
