Cleverly could face Braehmer-Krasniqi winner for WBA 175lb title

cleverly677By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBO light heavyweight champion Nathan Cleverly (28-2, 14 KOs) could be getting the winner of this Saturday’s fight between WBA World light heavyweight champion Jurgen Braehmer (45-2, 33 KOs) and Robin Krasniqi (43-3, 16 KOs), according to Sky Sports.

If the 28-year-old Cleverly can get past his still to be determined opponent next month on April 25th, he could then be leap-frogging over the top contenders in the light heavyweight division to take on the winner of the Braehmer-Krasniqi fight.

Juergen Braehmer vs. Robin Krasniqi this Saturday, on March 21st

braehmer3445(Photo credit: Sebastian Heger) By Scott Gilfoid: We just saw Sergey Kovalev prove that he’s heads above the other fighters in the 175 pound division last Saturday night in defending his IBF/WBA/WBO belts with a win over Jean Pascal, but now we’re going to see what some boxing fans believe is a weaker paper champion in the division in WBA regular light heavyweight champion Jurgen Braehmer (45-2, 33 KOs) defending his title against #2 WBA Robin Krasniqi I43-3, 16 KOs) this Saturday, March 21st at the Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.

What’s confusing about the Braehmer-Krasniqi fight, besides the fact that there are three world champions in the light heavyweight division, is the fact that the World Boxing Association has 27-year-old Krasniqi ranked #2 with their organization.

Braehmer: Krasniqi has earned his shot

braehmer3445(Photo credit: Sebastian Heger) By Scott Gilfoid: While top light heavyweights like Adonis Stevenson, Sergey Kovalev and Jean Pascal get a ton of notoriety in the boxing world. WBA 175lb champion Jurgen Braehmer (45-2, 33 KOs) is largely forgotten about by many fans, and some of that is from his own doing and that of his promoters at Sauerland.

Braehmer, 36, is simply not fighting the kinds of guys that would get him the attention from fans outside of Germany, and that’s unfortunate for him because he’s missing out on winning over fans while he holds the WBA belt. On March 21st, Braehmer will be defending his title against his WBA mandatory challenger Robin Krasniqi (43-3, 16 KOs) at the Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.

Juergen Braehmer faces Robin Krasniqi on March 21st in Rostock, Germany

brahmer344By Scott Gilfoid: WBA World light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer (45-2, 33 KOs) will be defending his WBA title against #2 WBA contender Robin Krasniqi (43-3, 16 KOs) on March 21st in Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.

It’s not a fight to get all that excited about, as it’s more of a par for the course for the 36-year-old Braehmer who has been matched very softly by his promoters at Sauerland since he picked up the WBA title with a win over Marcus Oliveira in December 2013.

Krasniqi likely next for Braehmer

krasniqi22By Allan Fox: #2 WBA Robin Krasniqi (43-3, 16 KOs) defeated Poland’s Dariusz Sek (21-2-1, 7 KOs) last Saturday night by a 12 round unanimous decision at the Ballhaus Forum, Munich, Bayern, Germany. The final judges’ scores were 116-112, 115-113, and 116-112.

More important than the win over the little known Sek, the 27-year-old Krasniqi will now likely be the next opponent for WBA World light heavyweight champion Jurgen Braehmer (45-2, 33 KOs) in his next title defense on March 21st at the Rostock, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.

Juergen Braehmer vs. Pawel Glazewski this Saturday, December 6th in Oldenburg, Germany

braehmer566(Photo Credit: Team Sauerland) By Allan Fox: This Saturday night WBA light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer (44-2, 32 KOs) will be making an optional title defense against Pawel Glazewski (23-2, 5 KOs) in a fight on December 6th at the EWE-Arena, Oldenburg, Niedersachsen, Germany.

Braehmer, 36, is really playing it safe by facing the 32-year-old Glazewski, because this is a guy who is little more than an over-matched fringe contender who has done zero to rate a world title shot. Glazewski has beaten by Hadillah Mohoumadi and a past his prime Roy Jones Jr in the last couple of years, and looked terrible in both fights.

Braehmer faces Pawel Glazewski on December 6th

brahmer344By Dan Ambrose: WBA World light heavyweight champion Juergen Braehmer (44-2, 32 KOs) will be defending his title against 32-year-old Pawel Glazewski (23-2, 5 KOs) on December 6th at the EWE-Arena, Oldenburg, Niedersachsen, Germany.

This is a title milking fight for the 36-year-old Braehmer, because he could face much better opposition if he wished to. Glazewski isn’t ranked in the top 15 by any of the sanctioning bodies, and he was recently knocked out last year by Hadillah Mohoumadi in 7 rounds.
