By Eric Thomas: If IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko (55-3, 49 KOs’s) still hasn’t found an opponent for his next fight in December, he might want to consider 37-year-old former World Boxing Council cruiserweight champion Juan Carlos Gomez (48-2, 36 KO’s), who sent out a press release today saying he’s available to fight the 34-year-old Wladimir next in December.

Riddick Bowe vs. Juan Carlos Gomez coming soon?
By Jason Kim: A fight that is rumored might take place is Riddick Bowe (43-1, 33 KO’s) vs. Juan Carlos Gomez (44-2, 35 KO’s). This match-up would be about as interesting to watch as getting a root canal. Bowe, now 40, hasn’t fought in two years and not looked good in about 15 years.
Is Haye Any Better Than Juan Carlos Gomez or Tony Thompson?
By Michael Lieberman: I’ve always considered myself to be a shrewd judge of boxing talent, and that’s why I see both Juan Carlos Gomez (44-2, 35 KOs) and Tony Thompson (32-2, 20 KOs) as being better heavyweights than David Haye (22-1, 21 KOs). I realize that many British boxing fans probably don’t know who Gomez or Thompson is, since they’ve been somewhat sheltered in the UK away from outside fighters. But rest assured, I see Thompson and Gomez both as more sound fighters with better boxing skills than Haye can ever hope to have.
Why Did Vitali Look So Bad Against Gomez?
By William Mackay: For those who witnessed last Saturday night’s fight between WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko and Juan Carlos Gomez, they saw a 37-year-old Vitali struggle badly in capturing a victory by a 9th round stoppage over Gomez. It wasn’t a pretty fight needless to say, but Vitali got the win and moved forward with his career. However, Vitali looked old fought like a fighter even older than his chronological years.
Vitali Defeats Gomez, Fails To Impress
By Scott Gilfoid: If WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko’s (37-2, 36 KOs) goal was to try and impress American audiences tonight with his 9th round stoppage over Juan Carlos Gomez (44-2, 35 KOs) in Stuttgart, Germany. I have to say he failed splendidly at achieving his goal. I don’t frankly care whether he got the win or not, he looked like utter garbage in winning the fight and if I was the top executive at HBO calling all the shots, I wouldn’t waste my sweet time in putting on Vitali against his next opponent, who at this point looks to be Oleg Maskaev.
Vitali Stops Gomez, Looks Bad
By William Mackay: An exhausted WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (37-2, 36 KOs) took out his number #1 challenger Juan Carlos Gomez (44-2, 35 KOs) in the 9th round of a sloppy fight in Stuttgart, Germany. Klitschko, 37, looked exhausted by the 2nd round, clinching often and gasping for breath much of the time. However, in the 7th round he caught Gomez with a hard right hand that sent him to the canvas
Look For Gomez To Defeat Vitali
By Manuel Perez: With the WBC showdown between champion Vitali Klitschko (36-2, 35 KOs) and challenger Juan Carlos Gomez (44-1, 35 KOs) about to take place in just a few moments in Stuttgart, Germany, I thought I’d give my pick of who the winner will be winner in this fight heavyweight fight. Vitali, 37, comes in with a remarkable knockout record of 35 knockouts in 38 fights, and having never been behind in a fight before. In the flip side, Gomez, 35, was one of the best cruiserweights the division has ever seen and would have likely been an all time great if he had stayed at that level.

Klitschko-Gomez: Juan could Be a Style Nightmare for Vitali
By Matt Stein: You ever wondered why WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (36-2, 35 KOs) wasn’t so thrilled at fighting Juan Carlos Gomez? It has to do with the Cuban’s style. Being a crafty southpaw with a lot of speed and excellent defensive ability, Gomez is a nightmare for a big lumbering heavyweight like Vitali, who mostly likes to fight slower opponents that stand directly in front of him.
That’s the exact opposite type of fighter that Vitali will be facing on Saturday night in Stuttgart, Germany. Gomez (44-1, 35 KOs) has made a career out of making his opponents look bad, breaking their spirit with his speed and elusiveness and causing them to give up on themselves in the process.
“I Will Beat His [Vitali] Face In” – Gomez
By Matt Stein: WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (36-2, 35 KOs) faces his bold talking number #1 challenger Juan Carlos Gomez (44-1, 35 KOs) this Saturday in a 12-round bout at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Halle, in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Gomez, 35, a former sparring partner for both Klitschko brothers and a former undefeated WBC cruiserweight champion from 1998-2001, is apparently primed for his bout against the 37-year-old Vitali, saying that he will destroy him and will “beat his face in.”
