Lucas Matthysse vs. John Molina Jr on April 26th at StubHub Center, Carson, California

matthysse84By Scott Gilfoid: On the same card as the mismatch between Keith Thurman and Julio Diaz, former WBC interim light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (34-3, 32 KO’s) will be facing lightweight contender John Molina Jr. (27-3, 22 KO’s) at the StubHub Center, in Carson, California, USA. The reason for this mismatch obviously is to get Matthysse a sure thing win against a fighter that is somewhat known by casual boxing fans.

I must say this card is absolutely horrible. I mean, there are good talents in Matthysse and Thurman on the card, but some god awful matches though. It’s not even sporting to see Thurman fighting Diaz and Matthysse fighting Molina Jr. It’s like stunning someone in the head and sending them out in the ring to try their luck against Matthysse and Thurman.

Adrien Broner – John Molina possible for Mayweather-Maidana card on 5/3

broner6262By Scott Gilfoid: A fight between lightweight John Molina (27-3, 22 KO’s) and Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KO’s) is being talked about for the co-feature bout on the May 3rd Showtime pay-per-view card headlined by Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Marcos Maidana from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, according to Fighthype.

A Broner-Molina fight is basically a move where Broner would be moving back down to the lightweight division. The plan is for Molina to move up to light welterweight to face Broner. Molina was beaten last year by lightweight Andrey Klimov in losing a 10 round decision. In 2012, Molina was blown out in 1 round by Antonio DeMarco. If you remember, DeMarco is the same guy that Broner destroyed in 8 rounds in 2012.

Dawson-Ward, DeMarco-Molina: Two good fights on HBO on September 8th

Image: Dawson-Ward, DeMarco-Molina: Two good fights on HBO on September 8thBy Allan Fox: It’s scary how bad last night’s mismatches were on HBO with Adrien Broner easily beating Vincente Escobedo, Keith Thurman destroying an overmatched Orlando Lora and Omar Figueroa dominating an outclassed Dominic Salcido. The card was either poorly thought out or planned to make the winners look better than they are. Whatever the case, they bad fights for boxing fans to watch. However, on September 8th, HBO has a good chance of redeeming themselves by televising Chad Dawson vs. Andre Ward and Antonio DeMarco vs. John Molina at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
