Jermell Charlo wants John Jackson in December

10/31/15 - Houston, TX - Jermell CHARLO vs Joachim ALCINE(Credit: Josh Jordan/Premier Boxing Champions) By Jim Dower: #1 WBC 154lb contender Jermell Charlo (27-0, 12 KOs) did his job last night in defeating veteran Joachim Alcine (35-8-2, 21 KOs) by a 6th round knockout to remain unbeaten on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC Sports Net from the NRG Arena in Houston, Texas.

The 25-year-old Charlo had too much speed, punching power and talent for the 39-year-old Alcine to deal with in this fight. It’s fortunate for Alcine that he was able to go six rounds, because he was hurt in the 4th from a left hook from Charlo.

Image: Jermell Charlo: I'll be KO'ing Alcine(Credit: Leo Wilson/Premier Boxing Champions) By Tim Fletcher: #1 WBC, #2 IBF 154lb contender Jermell Charlo (26-0, 11 KOs) isn’t known for being a big puncher like his brother Jermall Charlo, but he still believes he’s going to KO 38-year-old high level journeyman Joachim Alcine (35-7-2, 21 KOs) tonight in their fight on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC Sports Net from the NRG Arena, in Houston, Texas.

Charlo, 25, hasn’t scored a knockout in two years since he defeated Jose Angel Rodriguez by a 10th round knockout in 2013. In Charlo’s last fight, he arguably lost to Vanes Martirosyan by a 10 round decision last March, but the judges somehow saw him winning the fight.

A Look Back On Last Weeks Boxing

fury54By Shane Newsome: With a heavy schedule of fights on both sides of the pond its easy for a fight or a whole fight card to have been missed by a casual boxing fan recently and could be forgiven, and if this is the site you use for all you boxing news (which for a lot of people that may be the case) then its too easy to get drawn in by a bias writers opinion of a fight.

Starting in Blackpool, Lancashire, UK and the main event on this card between Brian Rose (23-1-1) and Joachim Alcine (33-4-1) here was a case of a European level fighter in Brian Rose attempting to begin to build a bridge towards world level and for this he picked a once formidable opponent in former WBA Light-Middleweight Champion Joachim Alcine, Rose acquitted himself well in a relatively uneventful (in comparison to the other fights on the night) fight and walked away with a win via a 12th round TKO.

Brian Rose vs. Joachim Alcine on April 20th in the UK

alcine2323By Scott Gilfoid: British junior middleweight champion will be taking on former WBA light middleweight strap holder Joachim Alcine (33-3-1, 19 KO’s) next month on April 20th at the Blackpool Winter Gardens in Blackpool, England.

Rose, 28, sees this as a step up despite the fact that 36-year-old Alcine has been stopped twice in his last four fights, both stoppages coming by 1st round knockout. Alcine was stopped by Matthew Macklin last September and hasn’t fought since.

Rose said to Fightnews.com “I want to step on from British level up to World level and we’ll see if I’m ready for that against Alcine.”
