Golovkin: Lemieux can go 3 or 4 rounds with me on power alone

1-golovkin (8)By Allan Fox: It looks like IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) had better plan on boxing IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) in their fight on October 17th, because Golovkin is saying that Lemieux won’t be able to go more than 3 to 4 rounds with him if he only brings his power game with him in their HBO pay-per-view fight at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Golovkin thinks that for Lemieux to go the entire 12 round distance with him in this fight, he’s going to need to plan on boxing him for 12 rounds instead of slugging it out.

Lemieux: I’m fine with being underdog against Golovkin

1-golovkin (4)By Dan Ambrose: IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) says he’s totally not worried in the least about being the underdog in his fight against IBO/WBA 160lb champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) in their fight in a week and a half from now on HBO pay-per-view from Madison Square Garden in New York.

Lemieux says being the underdog will make it that much better when he wins the fight against the 33-year-old Kazakhstan fighter. Besides not being worried about being the underdog, Lemieux says he’s not afraid of Golovkin’s punching power.

The two middleweight champions will be putting up their world titles on the line for the fight, and matching each other punch for punch in what many boxing fans see as a potential candidate for fight of the year. De La Hoya needs the 26-year-old Lemieux to win this fight because he’s one of Golden Boy’s future stars.

Golovkin looking sharp in training

1-GolovkinLemieuxLAPC_Hoganphotos5By Dan Ambrose: With only 11 days to go before the HBO pay-per-view card headlined by IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) vs. IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) at Madison Square Garden, in New York, Golovkin is looking very, very powerful and in excellent condition in his training camp.

You’d hate to say that the 26-year-old Lemieux has no chance of winning the fight based on looks alone, but I’m starting to think that Golovkin is going to win this fight by a cakewalk.

Kellerman: Andre Ward is the No.1 P4P; Golovkin is unproven

ward5By Dan Ambrose: HBO analyst Max Kellerman has moved WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward (28-0, 15 KOs) No.1 in his personal pound-for-pound list now that Floyd Mayweather Jr. has retired from boxing.

If Mayweather comes back, then Kellerman believes that he should be No.1 still. Kellerman says he doesn’t have unbeaten knockout artist IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) high on his pound-for-pound list because he’s still unproven because none of the top middleweights want to fight him aside from IBF 160lb champion David Lemieux.

Lemieux will KO Golovkin, says De La Hoya

1-LemieuxWorkout4Golovkin_Hoganphotos1By Dan Ambrose: Fans don’t know exactly what to expect in the unification fight between IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) and IBF champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) this month on October 17th on HBO pay-per-view, but Lemieux’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya feels pretty confident about the 26-year-old Lemieux’s chances of winning this fight at Madison Square Garden, in New York.

De La Hoya says he wouldn’t have wanted Lemieux to face Golovkin a year ago because he felt he wasn’t ready back then. But now that he has wins over Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam, Gabriel Rosado and Fernando Guerrero under his belt, De La Hoya now feels that Lemieux is ready to go into Madison Square Garden and take Golovkin’s scalp and bring his IBO and WBA 160lb titles back to Canada with him.

Ward is just using Golovkin’s name to stay relevant, says Sanchez

ward6666By Dan Ambrose: In a real surprising bit of news, IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez says that WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward is using Golovkin’s name to stay relevant by name dropping his name to get attention from boxing fans and the media.

Sanchez says that Ward was lying when he recently said that Golovkin’s promoter turned down a fight offer from him to fight him. Sanchez says that Ward didn’t start talking about a fight against Golovkin until after he’d already signed for a unification fight against IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) on October 17th.

Golovkin’s trainer wants Lemieux to backup his tough talk

1-GolovkinLemieuxLAPC_Hoganphotos11By Dan Ambrose: IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) has made a lot of noise lately in saying that he’s going to come punching in his unification fight against IBF/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) on October 17th this month in their fight on HBO pay-per-view.

Abel Sanchez, the trainer for Golovkin, wants the fight to be an exciting affair with both guys throwing leather from start until the bitter finish. Lemieux has always been a slugger during his career, and that’s why Sanchez is hoping that he sticks to his original style of fighting so that Golovkin doesn’t have to chase him around the ring all night long like he’s been forced to do against some of his opponents.

If Mayweather fights Golovkin in 2016, people will happily pay to see it

1-GolovkinLemieuxNYPC_Hoganphotos16By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26 KOs) may have did himself in with his performances in his last two fights against Manny Pacquiao and Andre Berto. By fighting in a safety first manner, and then choosing to fight Berto in his last bout, Mayweather may have hurt his chances of making big money when/if he decides to come back next year to resume his career like many boxing fans think he will.

At this point I think the only guy that boxing fans will really show a lot of interest in seeing Mayweather fight is Gennady Golovkin, the unbeatable knockout artist from the middleweight division. So many fans are angry at Mayweather fight now, they would likely pay big money to see him fight a guy like Golovkin who would have a very good chance of planting Mayweather to the canvas for 100 count.
