Eubank Jr. says, “Gennady Golovkin, I’m coming for you!”

eubank2

By Scott Gilfoid: Chris Eubank Jr’s victory over a hopelessly over-matched domestic level fighter Tom Doran (17-1, 7 KOs) last Saturday night seems to have taken Eubank Jr’s confidence to a new level, because he’s not only calling out the highly talented IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs), but he’s also saying he wants WBO belt holder Billy Joe Saunders, who already beat him two years ago in 2014.

Eubank Jr. defeated Doran by a 4th round knockout at the O2 Arena in London, UK. Doran was knocked down four times in the fight, and he looked like he had wondered into the wrong ring. He just did not belong there.

Eubank Jr: I can out-box and out-brawl Gennady Golovkin

eubank4

By Scott Gilfoid: British middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. (22-1, 17 KOs) has convinced himself that he can beat the best middleweight in the division Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs), and he plans on trying to realize his dreams by facing the Kazakhstan star in September.

Eubank Jr. believes the fight against GGG will be one of the biggest fights in British boxing history, even though it would only have one Brit involved rather than two. Eubank Jr. thinks he can defeat Golovkin by brawling and boxing him. It’s hard to picture Eubank Jr. out-brawling Golovkin. If you look at how marked up Eubank Jr. was in his last fight against Nick Blackwell, I just can’t see Eubank Jr. being able to defeat Triple G.

Eubank Jr’s promoter Eddie Hearn is said to be close to making the Golovkin fight for September. Eubank Jr. needs to do his part by beating Tom Doran (17-0, 7 KOs) tonight, and not getting in the way of the negotiations with GGG by making unreasonable demands.

Saul “Canelo” Alvarez vs. Liam “Beefy” Smith: The fight that nobody asked for

Image: Saul "Canelo" Alvarez vs. Liam "Beefy" Smith: The fight that nobody asked for

By J. Calderon: In an utterly predictable move, Golden Boy Promotions announced that former WBC Middleweight Champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will be facing WBO Jr. Middleweight Champion Liam “Beefy” Smith on Sept. 17. Already, there has been a massive backlash on social media, with fans bombarding Canelo’s page with GGG memes and claiming to have abandoned ship.

Now, the point of view of Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya and Vice President Eric Gomez is simple: maximum reward for minimum risk. “Canelo” has already denied being a full-fledged middleweight, so moving back to 154 lbs. and fighting for a Jr. Middleweight title makes perfect sense. However, “Canelo” has claimed to be unable to make 154 lbs since his win over a weight drained Alfredo Angulo in 2014.

Joshua thinks Eubank Jr. could beat Golovkin

eubank43333

By Scott Gilfoid: While few boxing fans believe that #2 WBA, #2 WBC Chris Eubank Jr. (22-1, 17 KOs) has any chance at all of beating IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) in their proposed fight for September, IBF heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua believes Eubank Jr. could pull it off and be the one that finally beats GGG.

Eubank Jr. hasn’t yet shown the kind of talent that would suggest that he’ll be able to beat Golovkin, but he speaks if it’s a dead certainty of him doing that. Eubank Jr’s confidence is downright scary because he comes off so utterly convinced that he’s going to win. It makes you whether he actually can.

Hearn: Golovkin-Eubank Jr. fight has 7 days to get made after Doran

golovkin83

By Dan Ambrose: Matchroom Sport promoter Eddie Hearn is only going to have a small amount of time to make the fight between his fight Chris Eubank Jr. (22-1, 17 KOs) and IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs). According to Hearn, he has only seven days to make the Golovkin vs. Eubank Jr. after this Saturday’s fight between Eubank Jr. and Tom Doran (17-0, 7 KOs) at the O2 Arena in London, UK.

If Hearn hasn’t made the fight by the seven day time frame, then Golovkin will move on and be looking for another opponent. The problem is that Golovkin has wasted valuable time waiting on a fight against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, and he just found out this week that the Mexican star won’t be fighting him this year.

Canelo and Golden Boy Promotions wants the fight between him and Golovkin to take place in the fall of 2017. It’s too bad they took this long in telling GGG this, because they could have saved him a lot of wasted time if they had told him months ago that they have no intentions of fighting him in 2016.

The Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin inquiries III

Image: The Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin inquiries III

By Gerardo Granados: Back in April 2013, I wrote an article titled “The Gennady Golovkin inquiry”, back then a friend of mine asked me many question related to a new hungry lion, but sadly 4 years later, this fighter hasn’t solved most of the questions, and now, I have more than just one more question to answer.

Standing 5´10” half height, 70” reach, a natural middleweight, solid chin and impressive punching power in both hands, his boxing skills are over all great, even if he chooses to please the crowd he has a good defense and a solid jab to control aggressive pressure fighters as we all could see against former middleweight IBF David Lemieux.

Golovkin camp says no verbal agreement for Canelo fight to be delayed until 2017

By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya Tweeted on Wednesday that Gennady Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler had agreed to wait until fall 2017 before matching him against Golden Boy fighter Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. However, there wasn’t an agreement from Golovkin’s management on this issue, says Fight News.

“According to the GGG camp, there is no verbal agreement, GBP/Oscar has misstated what has taken place,” said Fightnews.com.

Groves upset with Murray over Golovkin sparring story

groves87

By Scott Gilfoid: Martin Murray (33-3-1, 16 KOs) thinks George Groves (23-3, 18 KOs) is little more than a quitter after saying that he quit on the second day of sparring with middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in the past. The sparring sessions between Golovkin and Groves took place years ago, and it’s unclear what actually took place.

Murray says Groves gave up and left camp after the second day of sparring with the Kazakhstan fighter. Groves says he did well in his second sparring session with Golovkin. Besides the sparring story, Murray thinks Groves has an ego problem and he sees him as someone that not only feels he’s superior as a fighter, but superior in general.

Groves and Murray will be fighting this Saturday night in a WBA super middleweight eliminator bout at the O2 Arena in London, UK. The winner of the Groves-Murray fight will be the WBA mandatory to 168lb champion Giovanni De Carolis (24-6, 12 KOs).

Golovkin’s focus is on Eubank Jr. for UK fight

golovkin901

By Dan Ambrose: With the Saul “Canelo” Alvarez fight now officially off the table until 2017, per Golden Boy Promotions, IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (35-0, 32 KOs) and his promoter Tom Loeffler will now focus their energy on making an important fight against British fighter Chris Eubank Jr. for September in the UK.

Golovkin, 34, is willing to travel to the UK to fight Eubank Jr. in his home country if the match is a big enough one for him to do that. Eubank Jr’s promoter Eddie Hearn believes that the Golovkin fight is big enough to stick it in a stadium.

That would obviously make it worthwhile for Golovkin, because he hasn’t had the opportunity as of yet to fight in front of a huge stadium level crowd. This would be a big deal for Triple G, and it would help increase his star power. Eubank Jr. and his father Chris Eubank Sr. have done a lot of talking recently about the Golovkin fight, and they both seem to be extremely confident they can beat him.

Eubank Jr: I see holes in Golovkin’s game I can exploit

eubank34

By Dan Ambrose: Chris Eubank Jr. (22-1, 17 KOs) has seen enough of IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s past fights to see a number of flaws in his game that he believes he CAN and WILL exploit in September if they face each other. Eubank Jr. sees nothing special about Golovkin, and he plans on proving that to the boxing world.

Eubank Jr. doesn’t think Golovkin can match his hand speed, work rate, high intensity style of fighting, and his youth. Like Floyd Mayweather Jr., Eubank Jr. sees nothing extraordinary about Golovkin. To be sure, Eubank Jr. respects Golovkin and rates him as a very good fighter, but not so good that he can’t beat him to claim the No.1 spot as the best middleweight in the division.
