WBA keeps Golovkin-Jacobs split at 75/25

1-o2arena-golovkin-brook-59

By Allan Fox: The World Boxing Association committee has ruled in favor of WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin to keep the 75/25 purse split in his favor for his fight against WBA ‘regular’ champion Daniel Jacobs. This is obviously disappointing news for the management of Team Jacobs, as they were looking for an increase of 60/40 for the split to make the fight more worthwhile to them.

It’s now unclear whether Jacobs will pull out of the fight with Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) or if the two sides can work a deal to give him a little better percentage of the split to keep him and his team happy.

Canelo can out-box Golovkin says Rios

canelo6427

By Dan Ambrose: Former WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios believes that Golden Boy Promotions franchise fighter Saul “Canelo” Alvarez can beat middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin if he chooses to box him from the outside, move around, and do what Kell Brook did last September against Triple G. Rios thinks that Golovkin would have problems with Canelo if he boxes him. However, if Canelo tries to stand and trade with Golovkin, he expects the Kazakhstan fighter to win by a knockout, because he believes that he’s stronger and more physical than Canelo.

Right now it’s still unknown if Golovkin and Canelo will ever face each other. Oscar De La Hoya, the promoter for Canelo, says they’ll fight next year in September, but he also says that Golovkin will need to agree to the eight-figure flat fee offer he made to him in order to get the fight. Golovkin wants a percentage deal. Without a percentage deal, there won’t be a fight.

Mayweather indirectly challenges Golovkin?

golovkin633

By Allan Fox: Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been retired for a little over one year, but he’s now gaining a great deal of attention in criticizing IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin this week. Some boxing fans believe that Mayweather’s criticism of Golovkin is an indirect way for him to challenge Triple G.

Are we seeing Mayweather testing the waters for a comeback against Golovkin? You can’t rule it out. Golovkin is the only fighter in the sport that Mayweather has any chance of coming back to get the nine-figure payday that he’s seeking in a comeback.

Khan says Brook fought wrong in Golovkin fight

1-o2arena-golovkin-brook-41

By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan thinks welterweight Kell “Special K” Brook used the wrong game plan for his fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin in their fight on September 10 in London, England. Khan suspects that Brook, 30, made up his mind that he couldn’t win the fight against Golovkin before he even stepped foot into the ring, so he just went out looking to war with Golovkin to go out in a blasé of glory.

Khan believes that Brook just went there for a payday against Golovkin, and not to try and win the fight. Khan saw the fight as a win-win situation for Brook, because he would get a big payday fighting Golovkin, and he would get a lot of credit from boxing fans if he brawled with him. However, Khan thinks that Brook would have stood a better chance if he’d boxed him, and used his boxing skills rather than standing and slugging.

Golovkin will be fine if Jacobs prices himself out

golovkin8

By Dan Ambrose: With his growing audience in the U.S, unbeaten middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) will be just fine even if WBA ‘regular’ 160lb champion Daniel Jacobs chooses to price himself out of their fight on December 10. It really doesn’t matter if Golovkin gets that fight, because he’s now become so popular that he’s independent of guys like Jacobs or even Saul Canelo Alvarez.

The fans in the boxing world are going to tune in to watch Golovkin in high numbers no matter who he faces next. If Jacobs prices himself out, he’s going to be forgotten and the fans will be focusing on Golovkin. He has it like that now.

Kell Brook exposed Golovkin, says Mayweather

golovkin76

By Scott Gilfoid: Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr. is convinced that welterweight Kell Brook (36-1, 25 Kos) “exposed” IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) in their match on September 10 last month at the O2 Arena in London, England.

(Above photo showing Kell Brook having a bad night at the office in round three against Gennady Golovkin)

Mayweather somehow feels that Brook came out ahead despite him getting stopped in the 5th round. I’m not too sure how Mayweather thinks Brook did a great job in the fight, when he was pummeled and stopped in the 5th round. Brook was little more than a punching bag for Golovkin from rounds three until the bitter end in the 5th.

Mayweather says Canelo shouldn’t fight Golovkin yet

canelo75

By Dan Ambrose: Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he’s not in favor of having WBO junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez fight middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin right now. Mayweather feels that the fight still needs to be built more before it takes place. He thinks it’s still too early yet for Canelo to be fighting Golovkin.

Mayweather says if Canelo were under his Mayweather Promotions banner, he wouldn’t allow the fight to happen against Triple G. Mayweather wants Golovkin to move up to 168 and fight his fighter WBC super middleweight champion Badou Jack in what he calls a “Tune-up” bout for Golovkin.

Golovkin-Brook stoppage looked like a fix, says Mayweather

1-o2arena-golovkin-brook-108

By Dan Ambrose: Floyd Mayweather Jr. says he didn’t like the way welterweight Kell Brook’s trainer Dominic Ingle stepped in and threw in the towel in the 5th round in the Gennady “GGG” Golovkin fight last September. Mayweather says it looked “like a fix” the way Ingle tossed the towel in suddenly in the 5th.

Brook was still standing at the time, trying to make Golovkin miss with his power shots. Mayweather probably thought it looked weird because Brook was unhurt other than his right eye, which he dabbed at earlier in the round.

Mayweather says Golovkin only fights stationary targets

1-o2arena-golovkin-brook-54

By Dan Ambrose: Floyd Mayweather Jr. says that his nephew’s favorite fighter is middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin, but after he saw his recent fight against welterweight Kell Brook, he now feels that he’s not the fighter he originally thought he was. Mayweather’s nephew now believes that Mayweather would have “destroyed” Golovkin if the two of them had fought each.

Mayweather says that Golovkin only has power against stationary fighters, but not ones that move around the ring. Unfortunately, Mayweather didn’t say anything about wanting to come back to boxing and prove his nephew’ theory of him being able to destroy Golovkin.

Mayweather says Canelo beats Golovkin easy

canelo299

By Dan Ambrose: Floyd Mayweater Jr. believes that Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) will EASILY beat IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady” GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) when the two of them eventually meet up in 2017 or at some point in the future.

Mayweather feels that Golovkin is nothing special, and only beats fighters that are stationary. Indeed, Mayweather feels that Canelo will not only give Golovkin his first defeat, but he’ll also knock him out in the process and make it look easy. It’s unclear what Mayweather’s thoughts were on Canelo’s fights against Erislandy Lara and Liam Smith.
