Golovkin won’t be fighting for remainder of 2016

By Eric Baldwin: In what has to be seen as really news for boxing fans hoping to see IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) fight in December, he’s not going to be fighting for the remainder of the year. According to Dan Rafael, Triple G’s fight against WBA ‘regular’ middleweight champion Daniel Jacobs (32-1, 29 Kos) couldn’t be negotiated for the December 10 date that they were hoping to stage the fight on HBO Boxing. Team Golovkin still haven’t negotiated the fight with Jacobs’ management, and they’re running out of time before the October 22 deadline the WBA set.

Since Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler doesn’t want to let the fight go to a purse bid, they’ve decided to put the fight off until early 2017. It’s hoped that the Golovkin-Jacobs fight can get made by that point.

By Dan Ambrose: Middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s fight against Daniel Jacobs (32-0, 29 KOs) appears to be headed towards February or March 2017, according to Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions. Loeffler says there’s not enough time to negotiate the fight for the December 10 on HBO Championship Boxing.

The Golovkin-Jacobs fight can happen next year. In the meantime, Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) will likely fight someone else on the December 10 date. There are plenty of contenders that Golovkin can fight.

Rant!

Image: Rant!

By Jermill Pennington: Tyson Fury – the thing I hate about the situation with Fury is that I feel duped to some degree. In my estimation of Fury leading in to his Fight versus Wladimir Klitschko I thought we were seeing a man poised for greatness. A man that was nearly driven to the point of insanity by his thirst to become the heavy weight champion of the world. In retrospect the aforementioned may still hold true, however the extreme feeling of letdown has taken place since his win over Klitschko.

Since his win over Klitscho, Fury has done nothing other than eat himself in to an unrecognizable loaf. To add to his battles at the table, Fury also seems to be battling a drug addiction. While I always try to have empathy for those battling addiction, in the case of Fury I have little as I deem his problem to be a severe case of “after party syndrome.”

1-o2arena-golovkin-brook-31

By Dan Ambrose: IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) will begin training this week on Wednesday or Thurman for his December 10 title defense on HBO Championship Boxing, according to his trainer Abel Sanchez. Golovkin is supposed to be fighting WBA ‘regular’ 160lb champion Daniel Jacobs (32-1, 29 KOs), but it’s still unknown at this point if the fight can get made.

Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler is in negotiations with Jacobs’ manager Al Haymon to try and put the fight together. The World Boxing Association gave the two camps an extension in the negotiations until October 22. If the fight isn’t done by then, it’ll go to a purse bid.

Golovkin’s trainer says it’s NOT time to move up

1-o2arena-golovkin-brook-131

By Dan Ambrose: Roy Jones Jr., Bernard Hopkins and Floyd Mayweather Jr. all believe that IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) should move up in weight to 168 and 175 to campaign in those weight classes to find better opposition for him to fight. Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez doesn’t agree with them, as he feels that Golovkin is a small middleweight who is comfortably making the 160 pound limit for the division.

As far as Sanchez is concerned, Golovkin has unfinished business at middleweight with him still needing to face Daniel Jacobs, Billy Joe Saunders and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. Whether all or some of those fights ever take place is the big question.

Sanchez: Golovkin should be #1 P-4-P, not Ward or Kovalev

1-o2arena-golovkin-brook-52

By Allan Fox: For the time being, trainer Abel Sanchez believes that his fighter IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) should be the number one pound-for-pound fighter in boxing unless the winner of the Andre” SOG” Ward vs. Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev fight on November 19 proves that they should take the top pound-for-pound honors.

Right now, Sanchez believes that Golovkin deserves the top spot, because of the way he’s dominated the middleweight division. Ward just recently moved up to super middleweight, and he has a lot to prove. Even if Ward beats Kovalev, there are dangerous fights against Adonis Stevenson and Artur Beterbiev that Ward would need to win before he could prove himself as the No.1 fighter in the 175lb division.

Golovkin’s trainer: Mayweather obsessed with Triple G

golovkin633

By Allan Fox: Middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez believes that superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. is totally obsessed with Golovkin with the way that he’s talking about his constantly. Mayweather recently said that he thinks that he would have beaten Golovkin if he had fought him.

Mayweather also believes that welterweight Kell Brook “exposed” Golovkin last September despite the fact that he was knocked out in the 5th round by the Kazakhstan fighter. Brook was taking terrible punishment in the 5th round from Golovkin, and needed saving by his trainer Dominic Ingle, who threw in the towel to keep Brook from being knocked out. Brook ended up with a broken right eye socket from his troubles.

Golovkin: The man, the myth, the Hypocrite

1-o2arena-golovkin-brook-131

By Leigh K. Seto: In a day and age of smart phones and instant information, folklore of legends like Paul Bunyun seem as unlikely and as unheard of as Coca cola in a glass bottle. But the quiet rumbling even among the non-fanatics of boxing seem to be chirping about an undefeated fighter from Kazakhstan. Gennady Golovkin has had a slow rise amongst the flashier names and flashier styles of the sport that he has dominated foe after foe for just over a decade. His inability to garner earlier fame has been several key factors. No marquee opponents, late start in the sport and other stars getting the attention.

But as other stars fade, other stars rise. So here Golovkin is finally gaining some notoriety and respect well deserved. But with attention, also brings pundits with microscopes! The clamoring of a record full of the nameless victims and hypocrisy is also being heard now.

Golovkin vs. Jacobs: Does Daniel still take fight?

1-jacobs-vs-mora-ii_09_09_2016_fight_andy-samuelson-_-premier-boxing-champions-3

By Dan Ambrose: The World Boxing Association ruled against Daniel Jacobs’ management’s request for a 60/40 purse split for a fight against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) on December 10 on HBO Championship Boxing. Thus far, Jacobs hasn’t officially pulled out of the fight with Golovkin yet, but there are many who believe that he’ll do that in order to avoid a knockout loss for little money.

If Jacobs pulls out of the Golovkin fight now, he’ll lose his WBA title, but he’ll be able to try and slide in next year after the smoke clears for the Golvokin vs. Saul Canelo Alvarez fight, which is supposedly taking place in September 2017.

Canelo doesn’t need Golovkin says Jeff Mayweather

canelo223

By Dan Ambrose: Jeff Mayweather thinks middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin doesn’t have enough to offer Mexican superstar Saul “Canelo” Alvarez right now in terms of popularity, and he says the fight isn’t worth it for Canelo right now. Mayweather feels that there’s not enough demand from the boxing public in the Canelo vs. Golovkin fight, largely because Golovkin has been facing too many smaller fighters and guys that fans don’t care about.

Mayweather says he wouldn’t put Canelo in with Golovkin if he were managing his career, because there’s too much risk for the reward. Mayweather would continue to match Canelo against other opponents until the boxing fans start showing a tremendous amount of interest in the Canelo-Golovkin fight.
