By Eric Thomas: Oscar De La Hoya, promoter for Golden Boy Promotions, is reporting that negotiations between World Boxing Association welterweight champion Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather for their May bout are “not too far away” to being wrapped up, according to Lance Pugmire of The Los Angeles Times. This is good news because there has been no word about the progress of the fight for over a week. De La Hoya says “Is that fight [Mayweather vs. Mosley] going to happen? I’m confident that it will.”

Roach thinks that Mayweather is scared of Pacquiao
By Dave Lahr: Freddie Roach, the trainer of Manny Pacquiao, says that he thinks that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is afraid of Pacquiao. In an article at The Telegraph, Roach says “I’m convinced the more I at this that they [Mayweather and his team] are scared to fight us.” Roach may be seeing things through his distorted prism, because Mayweather has made it clear all he wants is random blood tests to take place before he fights Pacquiao. I don’t see how that translates into Mayweather being afraid to fight Pacquiao.
Mayweather hesitating with Mosley fight – News
By Eric Thomas: According to Michael Marley of Examiner.com, unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. isn’t moving forward with his fight with World Boxing Association welterweight champion Shane Mosley. Marley states that a source within the Mayweather camp says that Floyd has added up what he’d likely make in his bout with Mosley, which is $10 million, and compared it to the $40 million that he’d get in a fight with the smaller Manny Pacquiao and sees that as the easier fight compared to Mosley.
Did Pacquiao make a mistake by not fighting Mayweather?
By Jim Dower: Although Manny Pacquiao and his team feel that they did the right thing by not agreeing to take random blood tests within 24 days of the failed March 13th fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr., I think Pacquiao may have made a mistake by not sticking it out and continuing to negotiate with Mayweather to make the fight happen. It seemed like Pacquiao and his team hastily moved away from the fight rather than trying to split the difference of 24 days.
Arum: “If Mayweather wants to fight Manny, it will have to be under the rules of the commission”
By Dave Lahr: Manny Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum doesn’t sound like he’s ready to give in any about the random blood tests for a future fight between his fighter World Boxing Organization welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. In an article at the Manila Bulletin, Arum, 79, said this: “If Mayweather wants to fight Manny [Pacquiao], it will have to be under the rules of the commission that governs the fight. You cannot have fighters in this sport imposing regulatory restrictions on other fighters because they damn well please.”
The Mayweather vs. Mosley talks are going well – News
By Eric Thomas: According to the Los Angeles Times, talks between World Boxing Association welterweight champion Shane Mosley and Floyd Mayweather are going remarkably well, much smoother than the failed talks between WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao and Mayweather which collapsed recently for their failed March 13th fight. The adviser for Mayweather, Leonard Ellerbe, says “It’s like a breath of fresh air, and I’m sure you understand what I’m referring to.”
The Failure to Negotiate (Mayweather-Pacquiao): A tragedy for boxing or the beginning of something great?
By Kevin Fleck: March 13th 2010, the atmosphere thick with expectation, the crowd packed with the now familiar celebrity faces, the grand boxers of yesteryear and the rapturous crowd; all drowning in a concoction of pre-fight nerves, and noise not heard since the great Rumble in the Jungle, nearly half a century ago.
Pacquiao may not ever fight Mayweather
By Dave Lahr: A fight between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao may never take place in the future unless Mayweather or Pacquiao change their minds about the random blood testing for the fight. Pacquiao doesn’t appear to have changed his mind one bit about the blood testing. In an interview with CNN, Pacquiao said “If Floyd wants that fight to happen then I think let the commission who implements the rules, not him, make the rules for the fight.”
Can Amir Khan become a huge PPV star like Mayweather and Pacquiao?
By William Mackay: Trainer Freddie Roach and Golden Boy Promotion are hoping to make a huge star out of WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (22-1, 16 KO’s) in the future along the lines of Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. Is it possible for Khan to accomplish this task in the near or distant future? Pacquiao toiled away for 14 years in the pro ranks before he recently became a huge mega star in the past year after beating Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto in three consecutive fights.
Roach sees Pacquiao-Clottey fight as being a better fight than Pacquiao vs. Mayweather
By Daved Lahr: Freddie Roach, the trainer of Manny Pacquiao, sees the March 13th match-up between former IBF welterweight champion Joshua Clottey and current WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao as being the better fight for fans compared to a bout between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr., which was going to take place on the same date. That fight didn’t happen because Mayweather and Pacquiao couldn’t agree on the random blood testing for the fight. In an article at Fight Hype, Roach says “This is a much better fight for the fans, I think, and for the people…He [Clottey] is the number one contender, he’s completely the opposite of what Mayweather brings to the table.”
