Pacquiao: Mayweather is “very jealous of my achievements because I have surpassed him”
By Jim Dower: Manny Pacquiao thinks that Floyd Mayweather Jr. is jealous of his achievements in boxing, saying to Greg Leon of Boxing Talk, “I just think he [Mayweather] and his team are scared of me and are very jealous of my achievements because I have surpassed him.” I think Pacquiao may have a good point. He may have surpassed Mayweather in terms of significant wins during his career. In the past couple of years, Pacquiao has beaten Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Oscar De La Hoya, and Ricky Hatton. Mayweather has beaten De La Hoya and Hatton as well, but he didn’t look nearly as good at beating them than Pacquiao did.

By Dan Ambrose: WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao gave his own prediction for this Saturday night’s fight between undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. and WBA welterweight champion Shane Mosley, picking Mosley to win and thinks that Mayweather will run from him. In an interview by Greg Leon at Boxing Talk, Pacquiao said “I think Mosley has a great chance of winning. I expect him and his team to come up with different plans to fight Mayweather, who I think will run all night.” There you have it. Pacquiao thinks that the 38-year-old Mosley will beat Mayweather this Saturday at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Mayweather, 33, is beyond titles at this advanced point of his career and is looking to just enhance his consider able legacy by chasing the best fighters in the sport, starting with the 38-year-old Mosley on May 1st. In an article at the Sun, Mayweather says “I did not want to fight for the WBA title. At this point, it’s all about enhancing my legacy. I’ve done a lot of things in this sport, things that a lot of fighters weren’t able to do in the sport and didn’t do in the sport. This fight with Mosley will enhance my legacy.”

On Thursday’s teleconference, the 33-year-old Mayweather, who had previously mentioned that he thought he was better than Robinson (173-19-6, 108 KO’s) and Ali (56-5, 37 KO’s) on the HBO Mayweather-Mosley 24/7 episode 2, said “Things change. It’s out with the old and in with the new. Muhammad Ali was one hell of a fighter, but Floyd Mayweather is the best…I got respect for Sugar Ray Robinson.
