Ellerbe expects Berto to fight like a warrior and not complain about shoulder problems

_DSC0210(Photo credit: Idris Elba) By Chris Williams: Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe took a shot at Manny Pacquiao this past week by saying that he doesn’t expect Floyd Mayweather Jr’s opponent Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) to start complaining about a shoulder problem during or after their fight on September 12th on Showtime PPV from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Ellerbe says Berto has fought with a shoulder injury before in the past in his bout with Jesus Soto Karass, and he fought with the pain and didn’t complain about the injury afterwards when he was knocked out in the 12th round by Soto-Karass.

Pacquiao now pursuing Mayweather like Khan

pac723By Chris Williams: After taking Manny Pacquiao’s pelt last May and adding it to his huge list of fine pelts, boxing’s No.1 star Floyd Mayweather Jr. now finds himself being pursued by Pacquiao in a rematch that the Filipino star is hoping will take place next year in 2016.

Pacquiao is going after a fight against Mayweather much in the same way that Amir Khan is. The only difference is that Pacquiao isn’t talking trash like Khan and showing frustration. Instead, Pacquiao is calmly saying he wants the rematch with Mayweather when interviewed and saying he thinks he can do a better job the next time around.

Khan: Mayweather is running scared of me because of my size, speed and power

khan4045 (Amir Khan seen here after his very, very tough fight against Marcos Maidana in 2010) By Scott Gilfoid: Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) says WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26 KOs) is scared of him because of his speed, size and punching power.

Khan also thinks Mayweather is a liar because he chose not to fight him after he won a poll conducted on his Mayweather Promotions website last year. The poll was one where boxing fans voted to pick the guy they felt Mayweather should fight.

Pacquiao says swimming in sea healed his shoulder without rehab

pac746By Chris Williams: It’s not usual for fighters to be able to come back from an injury like the one that Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) suffered last May without having to undergo many months of hard rehab training to try and get the full use of their surgically repaired shoulder back to them. This is why it seems to strange that Pacquiao is saying that his surgically repaired right rotator cuff has been healed without him even undergoing rehab.

Pacquiao says he just swam in the ocean and the salt water healed his torn rotator cuff. It sounds like a miracle.

Berto says he’s going to shock the world by beating Mayweather

berto100By Jim Dower: Former IBF/WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) isn’t just planning on showing up on September 12th to just collect a payday in his fight against WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48, 26 KOs) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Berto, 31, will be coming to win, and he expects to surprise a lot of boxing fans by taking Mayweather’s titles away from him as well as his unbeaten record. The serious career-threatening shoulder injury Berto suffered two years ago in his 12th round knockout loss to Jesus Soto Karass is thing of the past.

Khan: I’ve done everything Floyd asked me to

khan670By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it looks like Amir Khan (31-3, 19 KOs) still hasn’t fully come to terms with the fact that he’s been passed over by Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0 26 KOs) for all time. I thought for a second there that Khan had officially moved on after getting the word that Mayweather was going to be fighting American Andre Berto (30-3, 23 KOs) in his final fight of his long 19-year pro career on September 12th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

But in looking at Khan’s latest comments, I don’t think he’s fully let go of the Mayweather fight. Obviously, Khan wanted that payday that he would have received had Mayweather agreed to fight him. Yeah, the cash would have been good for Khan, but it’s not the end of the world for Khan. He can now gear up and start badgering Manny Pacquiao and Top Rank for a fight in 2016.

Mayweather-Berto: Possible Hidden Variables

floyd777By Christopher Jason Young: Just like most of the boxing world I’m not too thrilled about the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Andre Berto match up. I figured if this is going to Mayweather “Last Hurrah” he would go out with a bang by facing one of the young hungry up and coming fighters who happened to be undefeated or another champion in his weight class.

Now personally I like Berto and I’m a fan of his, but to fight Berto now at this stage of his career I figured Mayweather sees another fighter who is not at his top peak and is trying to cash out on an easy payday. No matter what numbers Mayweather does he is still guaranteed a minimum of 32 million dollars.

Khan says he’ll use Mayweather’s game plan to beat Pacquiao

khan44By Scott Gilfoid: A fight between former eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao and Amir Khan is possible for early 2016. Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has already said he’s interested in making that fight now that Khan is “shooting his mouth off” about the Pacquiao clash.

If he gets the fight, Khan says he’ll follow the same blueprint that Floyd Mayweather Jr. created in how to beat Pacquiao by using movement, single shots and not being stationary. Khan says he plans on being slick like Mayweather was against Pacquiao to get the victory.

Berto will put up a better fight than Pacquiao against Mayweather, says Ishe Smith

floyd6666By Chris Williams: The boxing world has their mind made up pretty much about Manny Pacquiao not putting up much of an effort in his one-sided 12 round decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. last May in the so-called “Fight of the Century” in Las Vegas, Nevada. While some boxing fans see it as a situation where Mayweather was simply too good for the aging Filipino star, other fans saw it as a case of Pacquiao just being too darned scared to fight hard.

I see it more as a combination of the two. After adding Pacquiao’s scalp to his resume, Mayweather has moved on to a fight against Andre Berto on September 12th. It’s assumed that Mayweather will make easy work of the 31-year-old Berto.
