By Dan Ambrose: Unbeaten junior middleweight contender Vanes Martirosyan (32-0, 20 KO’s) has sealed his fate by agreeing to fight #3 WBC Erislandy Lara (17-1-1, 11 KO’s) in a World Boxing Council ordered WBC 154 pound elimination bout with the winner to become the mandatory challenger to WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez.

Erislandy Lara looks too good for Canelo Alvarez
By Dan Ambrose: After watching Cuban junior middleweight contender Erislandy Lara (17-1-1, 11 KO’s) school Freddy Hernandez last Saturday night by a 10 round unanimous decision, I give WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (40-0-1, 29 KO’s) zero chance of beating Lara if he and his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions decides to pick him for Alvarez’s next fight on September 15th. The chances of that happening are quite low.
Lara likely won’t get Canelo bout even if he destroys Hernandez on Saturday
(Photo: Casino/Showtime) By Dan Ambrose: Junior middleweight contender Erislandy Lara (16-1-1, 11 KO’s) is pretty much in a no win situation when it comes to trying to get a title shot against WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, because his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions aren’t interested in matching Alvarez up with the tough as nails Lara.
Erislandy Lara likely to be ignored by Saul Alvarez for a long time to come
