By Jim Dower: HBO Sports is hoping to put together a light welterweight unification bout between IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KO’s) and WBO light welterweight title holder Timothy Bradley (26-0, 11 KO’s) early next year on January 29th, 2010, says Dan Rafael. Gary Shaw, Bradley’s promoter, is already reportedly working with HBO in putting together the Bradley-Alexander fight. However, the fight is contingent upon the 23-year-old Alexander beating former WBA junior welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik when they meet next month on August 7th at the Scottrade Center, in Saint Louis, Missouri.

HBO very interested in Bradley-Alexander fight in early 2011 – News
By Dan Ambrose: HBO Sports president Ross Greenburg is really fascinated by potential mouth-watering fight between light welterweight champions Timothy Bradley and Devon Alexander and would like nothing better than to have this fight put together so that HBO can show this fight to American boxing fans in the early part of 2011.
Kotelnik says he’s going to kick Alexander’s backside
By Jim Dower: Former World Boxing Association (WBA) junior welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik (31-3-1, 13 KO’s) doesn’t see himself as a potential walking into a lion’s den when he meets IBF/WBC junior middleweight champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KO’s) on August 7th at the Scottrade Center, in Saint Louis, Missouri. On the contrary, the 32-year-old Kotelnik thinks that he’s going to beat the 23-year-old Alexander, saying in an article at the Sportinglife, “They say it’s a long way to9 come for an a– kicking, but I have a question for Devon Alexander after his people have made all these boasts: Will Devon come back and fight me in a rematch in the Ukraine after I kick his a–? There will be an a– kicking, but St. Louis will be surprised who will be doing it.”
Roach talks Alexander, Khan, and Katsidis – News
By William Mackay: Trainer Freddie Roach says that WBO lightweight interim champion Michael Katsidis (27-2, 22 KO’s) wanted too much money to fight World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s), according to the Telegraph.co.uk. Roach said “He [Khan] fought a great fight in New York against Paulie Malignaggi. He fought the right fight. If he does take the fight [against soon to be 39-year-old Joel Casamayor] on July 31st, he needs to get back over here and get in the gym this week. I hear they were talking to Katsidis but he wanted too much money. My view is Amir is ready for anyone.”
Alexander vs. Kotelnik on August 7th – News
By Dan Ambrose: Unbeaten IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KO’s) has finally found an opponent for his next fight and will be facing former World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik (31-3-1, 13 KO’s) on August 7th in Alexander’s home city of Saint Louis, Missouri. It’s kind of an anti-climatic choice for Alexander, as he’s been trying to get fights against WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley and WBA light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana. Neither fighter showed much interest in fighting the 23-year-old Alexander, although not because they were afraid of him.
Cloud-Johnson on Devon Alexander’s August 7th St Louis homecoming
By Peter Wells: It wasn’t too long ago that we heard the news that Glen Johnson’s IBF Light Heavyweight title challenge against unbeaten Tavoris Cloud was off. Now the fight is on again on August 7th in St Louis. Though the main attraction of course, will be hometown hero Devon Alexander. The WBC Light Welterweight ruler is still undecided on his next opponent after talks with rival Zab Judah fell through. Zab was very adamant on returning to St Louis after last time out dethroned another St Louis hero and good friend of Devon, Cory Spinks. I’m sure Devon was excited about getting revenge on Judah.
Devon Alexander wants Kotelnik, the only fighter to beat Maidana
By Sean McDaniel: In more of a sign that Marcos Maidana is the most popular fighter in the light welterweight division, recently spurned IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KO’s) wants to go after former World Boxing Association light welterweight champion Andriy Kotelnik (31-3-1, 13 KO’s) for his next fight. The 32-year-old Kotelnik, a 2000 Olympian for Ukraine, is the only fighter ever to beat the hard-hitting Maidana, beating him by a questionable 12 round split decision a year ago in February. The fight took place in Germany, where Kotelnik now fights and for a lot of people, they felt that Maidana had done enough to get the win.
Alexander impressed with Maidana, but thinks he can beat him
By William Mackay: IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KO’s) was at ringside to watch World Boxing Association light welterweight interim champion Marcos Maidana (28-1, 27 KO’s) put away number #1 WBA contender Victor Cayo (24-1, 16 KO’s) in the 6th round last Saturday night the Hard Rock Café, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Alexander, 23, had this to say in an interview by Greg Leon of Boxing Talk, “I was very impressed with Maidana’s performance. He’s a straight up beast, but I’m telling you right now, I will tame him.”
Timothy Bradley interested in fighting Devon Alexander
By Jim Dower: World Boxing Organization light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (25-0, 11 KO’s) says that he’s interested in fighting IBF/WBC light welterweight champion Devon Alexander (20-0, 13 KO’s) in June if possible.
In an article at Boxing Talk, Bradley said “Let’s do it” when asked if he’d be interested in facing Alexander in June. However, Bradley says that the “money has to be right” for him to fight Alexander.
Alexander impresses with KO win against Urango
By Peter Wells: Saturday night Devon Alexander unified the WBC and IBF 140lb titles in an enthralling 8th round stoppage victory of Colombian tough man, Juan Urango. Both fighters were in superb condition, but the quicker fighter from St Louis was too much for the plodding Urango.
Juan tried to get back into the fight by brawling, but Alexander was always in and out of range when he wanted to be.
