David Tua – Saviour Of The Heavyweight Division

By Joel Roberts: With the major lack of exciting fighters in the heavyweight division, it is somewhat of a surprise that the return of David Tua hasn’t been more widely spoken about. As much as he is the current “Buzz” of the nation down here in little old New Zealand, I think it is well overdue to give David the worldwide recognition he deserves.

Tua to fight five times in 2010

Image: Tua to fight five times in 2010By Jason Kim: 37-year-old David Tua (50-3-1, 43 KO’s) plans on fighting five times in 2010, according to Radio New Zealand News. Tua recently canceled his February bout against Bruce Seldon. Tua’s next fight is scheduled against Friday Ahunanya. This will be interesting to see if Tua can actually fight five times in a year. Tua has only fought six times in the past three years, and only once in the past two years. It’s nice that he has finally decided to move forward with his career and get busy. However, it remains to be seen whether or not Tua can actually get in the ring as many as five times in a year.

Tua vs. Rahman III in December?

tua4532By Jim Dower: It’s looking more and more like heavyweight David Tua will be fighting former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman in December, in New Zealand. This is a fight that Tua wants and an opponent that is probably not too dangerous for him at this point in Rahman’s career. There was a time when Rahman was more than a handful for Tua. The two fought twice previously with Tua winning the first by knockout and the second fight ended in a controversial draw.

Will David Tua ever Fight for a Heavyweight Title Again?

By Jim Slattengren: It’s hard to believe that it’s been nine long years since heavyweight David Tua (49-3-1, 42 KO’s) last fought for a title, losing a lopsided 12-round unanimous decision against Lennox Lewis in November 2000. At the time, it seemed almost a given that the hard punching Tua would be back in no time for a title another title shot against Lewis, or against one of the other heavyweight champions.
