stevenson22By Allan Fox: WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson (23-1, 20 KO’s) will be defending his title this Saturday night against #1 WBO, #3 WBC Andrzej Fonfara (25-2, 15 KO’s) in a fight that should be entertaining while it lasts on Showtime Championship Boxing at 9:00 PM, May 24th at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Stevenson has blowing through his opposition with ease in the past year in destroying Tony Bellew, Tavoris Cloud, Chad Dawson and Darnell Boone by knockouts. There was concern initially whether Stevenson had the chin and the talent to beat the better fighters like Dawson and Cloud, but Stevenson showed clearly in those fights that he had more than enough talent to hang with those guys.

lemieux334By Allan Fox: #10 IBF, #11 WBO, David Lemieux (31-2, 29 KO’s) will be back in the ring next month against 27-year-old former world title challenger Fernando Guerrero (26-2, 19 KO’s) in a bout scheduled for 10 rounds on the undercard of the title fight between WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis Stevenson vs. Andrzej Fonfara at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Lemieux is taking a considerable step up in class in taking this fight, as Guerrero can fight a little bit as he’s shown in the past with wins over Ossie Duran, Derrick Findley, Gabriel Rosado, Michael Walker, Jessie Nicklow, and Ishe Smith. Guerrero has run into problems in knockout losses to Grady Brewer and Peter Quillin. You have to wonder whether Guerrero’s ability to take a good shot has diminished since his loss to Quillin.

lemieux1By Sean Clarke: On June 8th the young Montreal knock out sensation makes his return to the ring. After a lengthy lay off (14th December 2012) Lemieux has been recovering from a hand injury suffered in his last fight where he knocked out Albert Ayrapetyan inside 2 rounds.

In the last 6 months rumours have been out there about a fight with Matthew Macklin who is now taking on the Golovkin on the 29th of June. The opponent is still TBA for the return of Lemieux but many questions are still being asked, will he be up against another class B opponent or will his team stick him in with a better class of opponent to test him and see if he has learned from that long night against Rubio back on the 8th of April 2011.

lemieux1By Allan Fox: Middleweight project David Lemieux (28-2, 27 KO’s) is scheduled to be back in the ring on February 8th against the powerful Jose Miguel Torres (26-5, 23 KO’s) at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada. The 23-year-old Lemieux has won his last three fights all by early knockout since losing back to back fights against Joachim Alcine and Marco Antonio Rubio last year.

Lemieux’s handlers want to find him opponents that can give him some roads so that he can build up his stamina for fights that go past five rounds, as well to teach him to box. In both the Alcine and Rubio fights last year, Lemieux started fast, and looked good, but then ran out of gas by the 6th round and took punishment.
