N’Dam vs. Lemieux to battle for vacant IBF 160lb title

YouTube video

By Dan Ambrose: #1 IBF middleweight contender Hassan N’Dam (31-1, 18 KOs) and #4 IBF David Lemieux (33-2, 31 KOs) will be fighting for the vacant IBF middleweight title at a still to be determined date. The two fighters’ management are currently trying to negotiate the fight.

If they can’t do it then the fight will go to a purse bid on April 7th in Springfield, New Jersey, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. This is the IBF title that the International Boxing Federation recently stripped from Jermain Taylor last February due to him being unable to defend the title because of legal issues.

David Lemieux in play for Canelo-Kirkland undercard on May 9th

lemieux4554By DA: #13 WBA,#2 WBC, and #5 IBF Middleweight contender David Lemieux is reportedly in talks to be apart of the upcoming Saul “Canelo” Alvarez – James Kirkland undercard on May 9th at the Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. This report came from LA times reporter Lance Pugmire in an interview with Oscar De la Hoya about 2015 being Boxing’s biggest year and Canelo Alvarez.

If Lemieux does get put as the co-main event that makes the card a lot better especially since it’ll be a championship bout given that Lemieux recently accepted the IBF’s offer in facing Hassan N’Dam for the vacant belt. The belt was held briefly by former undisputed middleweight champion Jermain Taylor but due to legal issues Taylor was stripped of his title assuming he won’t be able to make defenses of the belt. Taylor won the belt by defeating Sam Soliman in which he dropped Soliman several times.

What’s the next big thing for David Lemieux?

lemieux1By Sarkis Aghbashian: There are talks about David Lemieux (33-2-31 KO’s), ranked #5 by IBF and #2 by WBC, facing the French Cameroonian #1 IBF Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam (31-1-18 KO’s) for the vacant middleweight IBF title. The title belonged to Jermain Taylor (33-4-1-20 KO’s) who got in trouble with the law and had to vacate his belt.

The fight between Lemieux and Hassan is still not an official done deal, but I think it will happen in May or beginning of June 2015. The fight will happen in Montreal at the Centre Bell and not in the U.S. Even though Lemieux got the U.S public’s interest after defeating the brave Gabriel Rosado by a 10th round TKO in New York on HBO. N’Dam is no big name in the states and Lemieux is the superstar in Montreal. Golden Boy, with whom Lemieux signed, will push the fight to be in Montreal because it will be a sold out show and will generate big numbers on HBO.

David Lemieux will fight N’Dam for the IBF vacant belt

lemieux2323By Frank Boileau: After Felix Sturm and Billy Joe Saunders both declined to fight N’Dam for the vacant IBF belt, David Lemieux announced earlier today that he’s gonna take the fight.

Lemieux (33-2, 31 KO) won his last 8 fights after losing twice in 2011 Joachim to Alcine and Marco Antonio Rubio. N’Dam N’jikam (31-1, 18 KO) became the International Boxing ederation number 1 contender when he beat Curtis Stevens last October. His only defeat was an unanimous decision against Peter Quillin, after he went down 6 times.

Camille Estephan, Eye Of The Tigre Promotion president told RDS (French Canadian sports media) that he was trying to get Lemieux to fight either Canelo Alvarez, Miguel Cotto or Gennady Golovkin. Since he couldn’t make any of these fight happen for the moment, the opportunity to fight for the IBF vacant belt was too good to pass.

Lemieux to fight N’Dam for vacant IBF 160lb title

lemieux787887By Dan Ambrose: #5 IBF David Lemieux (33-2, 31 KOs) has reportedly agreed to fight #1 IBF Hassan N’Dam (33-1, 18 KOs) for the vacant IBF middleweight title, according to lapresse.ca.

Lemieux’s decision to face N’Dam for the IBF title comes after both Billy Joe Saunders and Felix Sturm both turned the fight down for various reasons. Sturm decided he didn’t want to fight N’Dam due to a better paying bout against WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham of Germany being out there for him on the horizon.

Lemieux wants Golovkin, Canelo or Cotto

lemieux4545By Dan Ambrose: New Golden Boy Promotions signee middleweight contender David Lemieux (33-2, 31 KOs) is aiming big for his fights in 2015 with Golden Boy. Lemieux, #2 WBC, #4 WBO, #5 IBF, #13 WBA, reportedly wants to face Gennady Golovkin, Miguel Cotto or Saul “Canelo” Alvarez this year.

At 26, with his biggest win of his career being his recent 10th round stoppage win over trial horse Gabriel Rosado, it’s very ambitious of Lemieux to be seeking out fighters this high up instead of Lemieux continuing to aim for the low hanging targets.

Golden Boy Promotions inks David Lemieux

lemieux4554By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions made a key acquisition to their growing stable of fighters on Friday in signing #2 WBC, #3 WBO, #5 IBF, #13 WBA middleweight contender David Lemieux (33-2, 31 KOs) to their team. The news was leaked a couple of weeks ago, but the signing was made official today with Golden Boy adding the 26-year-old Canadian Lemieux to their team.

Lemieux is probably still too green to snatch the middleweight titles from champions like Miguel Cotto, Gennady Golovkin, Daniel Jacobs and Jermain Taylor.

Golden Boy signs David Lemieux

lemieux55By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions may have lost a number of fighters last Friday in settling their case with former Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer and Al Haymon, but they’ve reportedly added #2 WBC, #3 WBO, #5 IBF, #13 WBA middleweight contender David Lemieux (33-2, 31 KOs) to their growing stable, according to Dan Rafael.

This is a much better move than the recent 12 signees that Golden Boy made this past week. Lemieux actually has the kind of talent to where he could possibly become a title holder.
