De La Hoya: Lemieux will KO Golovkin in 5 rounds

1-GolovkinLemieuxNYPC_Hoganphotos16By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya expects his fighter IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) to make quick work of IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) in their unification fight on October 17th at Madison Square Garden in New York.

De La Hoya expects Lemieux to get to Golovkin’s chin by 5th round. He thinks it’s a fight where the 26-year-old Lemieux will get to Golovkin early. De La Hoya thinks that his other important fight between his fighter Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto will be just as exciting, but it will lost possibly until the 10th round. De La Hoya sees Canelo getting a stoppage win by the 10th.

Lemieux could trouble Golovkin on the inside, says Monroe

Image: Lemieux could trouble Golovkin on the inside, says MonroeBy Dan Ambrose: Middleweight contender Willie Monroe Jr. thinks that IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) has a good shot of beating IBO/WBA 160lb champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) if Lemieux stays close to Golovkin and forces him to fight on the inside when the two of them face each other on October 17th at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Monroe says he gave Golovkin problems in their fight last May when he was fighting him in close. Monroe was stopped in the 6th round though after he quit following a knockdown. I’m not sure that Monroe is the guy that should be giving advice for Lemieux in how to beat Golovkin because he failed miserably in getting dropped three times in the fight.

Roach: Cotto-Canelo winner should fight Golovkin down the line

Image: Roach: Cotto-Canelo winner should fight Golovkin down the lineBy Dan Ambrose: Freddie Roach, the trainer for WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) says that winner of the November 21st fight between Cotto and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) will eventually get around to fighting the WBC mandatory challenger Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) in the future.

Roach wouldn’t say when that time will be. All he could do is say that the winner of the Cotto vs. Canelo fight will eventually fight Golovkin in the future. Unfortunately for Golovkin, this ties in with what Canelo’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya has been saying. De La Hoya says he doesn’t know what’s going to happen with the Cotto-Canelo fight.

Golovkin’s undefeated record makes him vulnerable, says Bernard Hopkins

Image: Golovkin’s undefeated record makes him vulnerable, says Bernard HopkinsBy Allan Fox: Promoter Bernard Hopkins believes that IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) is very vulnerable in his fight against the Golden Boy Promoted IBF 160lb champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) in their fight on October 17th at Madison Square Garden in New York.

What makes Golovkin vulnerable for this fight are a couple of things. Hopkins thinks that Golovkin’s unbeaten record and the praises he’s been getting from fans will make him vulnerable to getting beaten. He thinks that Golovkin has become drunk on all the praises he’s picked up from the boxing fans due to his many knockout wins he’s accumulated over the past seven years.

Sanchez: Hopefully Cotto-Canelo winner faces Golovkin next

canelo1111By Dan Ambrose: IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s trainer Abel Sanchez is starting to show signs of concerns about whether the winner of the November 21st fight between WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez will agree to fight Golovkin in early 2016.

Golovkin has to do his part first by beating IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux in their fight on October 17th on HBO pay-per-view. If Golovkin wins that fight against the Canadian Lemieux, then Golovkin will play a waiting game in seeing who emerges in the Cotto-Canelo fight, and whether the winner – or even the loser – will agree to fight him. Sanchez has reason to be worried because Canelo’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions said that Canelo will eventually get around to fighting Golovkin in the future.

Lemieux figures that Golovkin will be facing the hardest puncher of his career when the two of them start exchanging shots on HBO pay-per-view, and he admits that Golovkin will be the hardest puncher that he’s faced during his career.

Lemieux: Golovkin’s trainer is immature for predicting 4th round KO win for GGG

1-GolovkinLemieuxLAPC_Hoganphotos3By Dan Ambrose: IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs) got worked up this week after learning from the media that Abel Sanchez, the trainer for IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), is predicting an easy 4th round knockout victory for Golovkin over Lemieux in their fight on October 17th at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Lemieux thinks it’s very immature of Sanchez to be making such a bold prediction because he feels that he’s a very good opponent and not the type that Sanchez should be making a prediction like that about. But Lemieux has been pretty bold himself in saying that he absolutely believes in his mind that he’s going to beat Golovkin.

De La Hoya: Canelo will eventually fight Golovkin at the right time

de la hoya95By Dan Ambrose: If you were one of the many boxing fans who were counting on Mexican star Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (45-1-1, 32 KOs) in fighting IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs) after they get through their next fights against WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto (40-4, 33 KOs) and IBF 160lb champion David Lemieux (34-2, 31 KOs), you might be disappointed to learn that Canelo’s promoter Oscar De La Hoya is saying that Canelo might not take the fight with Golovkin after the Cotto fight.

De La Hoya says that Canelo will eventually get around to fighting the Kazahstan star at some point. Just when that will happen is unknown at this point. Cotto and Canelo have a verbal agreement to face each other in a rematch, and neither of them has much of an incentive step forward and face a dangers puncher like Golovkin until they’ve exhausted the money they can make in facing each other.

Andre Ward not in the picture for Golovkin, says Loeffler

ward44444By Dan Ambrose: IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler says that a fight between Golovkin and WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward isn’t in the picture in the near future.

The only reason there was talk of a Golovkin-Ward fight in the recent past was because the media keeps asking Golovkin and Ward questions about when/if they’ll be fighting each other, and they’ve answered the questions the best that they could. But as far as an actual fight goes between them, it’s not going to happen anytime soon if ever, says Loeffler.

Golovkin’s promoter fires back at Danny Garcia’s father Angel

1-GolovkinLemieuxLAPC_HoganphotosBy Dan Ambrose: A month after former IBF/WBA 140lb champion Danny Garcia’s father/trainer Angel Garcia gave a weird interview in which he tore into IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin (33-0, 30 KOs), wondering why the American fans are supporting him because he hadn’t fought anyone good, Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler of K2 Promotions answered back with his thoughts on some of the things that Angel had been saying.

Loeffler said that Golovkin has always been matched against the best available fighters that were willing to get in the ring with him. He was always willing to fight the best, but getting the best to agree to fight him was impossible until IBF middleweight champion David Lemieux finally agreed to fight him on October 17th on HBO PPV.
