By Dan Ambrose: The World Boxing Council has extended negotiations between WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (29-0, 17 KOs) and his #1 WBC mandatory challenger Viktor Postol (29-0, 17 KOs) until October 10th. If an agreement isn’t reached by that time a purse bid will take place on October 10th.
Postol could potentially be the most formidable opponent that Garcia has faced during his career due to his 5’11” height, long reach, excellent chin and high work rate. Garcia was very lucky to win a controversial decision over Mauricio Herrera last March in Puerto Rico, but he’ll have to find another way to beat Postol because this fight.
