WBC extends Danny Garcia vs. Viktor Postol negotiations 10 days until purse bid on October 10th

garcia68By Dan Ambrose: The World Boxing Council has extended negotiations between WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (29-0, 17 KOs) and his #1 WBC mandatory challenger Viktor Postol (29-0, 17 KOs) until October 10th. If an agreement isn’t reached by that time a purse bid will take place on October 10th.

Postol could potentially be the most formidable opponent that Garcia has faced during his career due to his 5’11” height, long reach, excellent chin and high work rate. Garcia was very lucky to win a controversial decision over Mauricio Herrera last March in Puerto Rico, but he’ll have to find another way to beat Postol because this fight.

Danny Garcia: Put up, or shut up

garcia14By Victor Candelario The Puerto Rican Philadelphia native slugger Danny “Swift” Garcia (29-0-0, 17 KOs)  has a possible showdown with Manny Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38 KOs) looming after Pacquiao’s camp expressed interest in meeting Garcia in the near future after Pacquiao’s showdown with Chris Algieri. But after Garcia’s last 2 outings in the ring it has become clear as day, Danny Garcia needs to step up.

Garcia faced 9th ranked light welterweight in the world Mauricio Herrera (21-4-0, 7 KOs) in a twelve rounder in Puerto Rico and was given a gift from the heavens because it was clear to everyone watching, Garcia was frustrated, Garcia was always a step behind, and Garcia had been exposed.

Mayweather says Khan has unfinished business with Danny Garcia and Breidis Prescott

floyd5656By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it looks like Amir Khan can pretty much forget all about getting a fight against WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr next year unless Khan takes care of his unfinished business with his two biggest blemishes on his resume in his knockout losses to Breidis Prescott and Danny Garcia.

Khan never did anything to avenge those losses, and instead he moved on without trying to rectify those glaring defeats. Mayweather is saying that Khan still has problems from the past that he’s not taken care of in those two fights.

Mayweather didn’t come right out and say he won’t fight Khan unless he avenges the defeats but you can pretty much read it as such.

Danny Garcia interested in Pacquiao fight, says he’s moving up to 147

garcia4By Dan Ambrose: It looks WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (29-0, 17 KOs) may be moving up in weight to try and get a fight against WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao or WBA/WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Garcia attended the Mayweather vs. Marcos Maidana fight last Saturday night, and after the fight he told the media that he wants to move up in weight to fight Pacquiao or Mayweather. He thinks he can compete with both of them.

De la Hoya interested in Pacquiao vs Garcia; Cold war nearly 100% over

garcia100By D.A: Well boxing fans our dreams of the cold war being fully over is about to become true. Of course we all know Golden boy promotions and HBO/ Top Rank have made peace and will work together in the future and guaranteed to in 2015.

All What’s left is Al Haymon to be thrown into the equation since there hasn’t been any reports of the mystery Manager and his team making peace with HBO.

Al Haymon of course is the rarely seen powerful adviser of many boxers today who are under the Golden Boy promotions banner. Why Al Haymon must be thrown into the equation of making peace with HBO is because Haymon manages guys who are promoted by Golden boy but not actually signed to the company.

Deontay Wilder vs. Bernane Stiverne & Danny Garcia vs. Viktor Postol purse bids postponed until October 1st

deontay11By Scott Gilfoid: The purse bids that were previously scheduled for this Friday, September 12th for the Deontay Wilder vs. Bermane Stiverne and Danny Garcia vs. Viktor Postol fights have been postponed until October 1st, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN. It’s unknown at this time why the purse bids were postponed.

It’s a positive for both fights because it gives them more time to try and negotiate the fights before it gets to a purse bid. I still see them both going to purse bids though.

Danny Garcia: Matthysse just wants a payday

SHOSPORTS-Matthysse vs Ortiz-9699(Photo Credit: Stephanie Trapp/SHOWTIME) By Dan Ambrose: Last Saturday night #1 WBO, #2 WBC Lucas Matthysse (36-3, 34 KOs) defeated WBC Silver 140 pound champion Roberto Ortiz (31-1-1, 24 KOs) by an impressive 2nd round knockout at the U.S Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Immediately after the fight, Matthysse said he wanted to fight WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia next if he had the courage to take the fight. But if Garcia didn’t want the fight, Matthysse said he’d look to face Adrien Broner, who defeated Emmanuel Taylor on the same card last night in Cincinnati, but in a far less impressive fashion.

Matthysse calls out Adrien Broner and Danny Garcia

SHOSPORTS-Matthysse vs Ortiz-9765(Photo Credit: Stephanie Trapp / SHOWTIME) By Jim Dower: Lucas Matthysse (36-3, 34 KOs) did his job tonight in stopping #2 WBC Roberto Ortiz (31-1-1, 24 KOs) with a powerful body shot in the 2nd round tonight to move past what many boxing fans thought was going to be a formidable opponent for him at the U.S Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio.

The knockout came by a perfectly placed Matthysse left hand to the liver or Ortiz. The Mexican fighter stayed down too long and misjudged the count. Ortiz rose at 9 instead of 10 and he just barely missed beating the count.

De La Hoya and Arum interested in Danny Garcia vs. Manny Pacquiao fight

pac76By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions president Oscar De La Hoya and Top Rank promoter Bob Arum are both interested in putting together a fight between WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia and Manny Pacquiao in the near future.

They’re not saying when they want that fight to take place, but you have to assume that it’s got to be fairly soon because Pacquiao, 35, is aging and the longer they wait the more likely Garcia will be able to defeat him.
