The final judge’s scores were 115-112, 115-112 and 114-113. Boxing News 24 scored the fight 8 rounds to 4 in favor of Golovkin. Jacobs was knocked down by a right hand from Golovkin in round 4.

The IBF will not be available for Jacobs to win tonight due to him failing to show up at the weigh-in today. Jacobs can still win Golovkin’s IBO, WBA and WBC titles. Winning those titles would be a big deal for Jacobs, because it could lead to a big money fight against Saul “Canelo” Alvarez or a rematch with Golovkin. It would be life changing money for Jacobs.

In the undercard there’s former WBC super flyweight champion Carlos Cuadras facing David Carmona. “El Principe” Cuadras should do an easy job and look impressive defeating Carmona. We also have pound for pound King, Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez making his first defense of his WBC super flyweight title, against mandatory challenger experienced former WBC super flyweight champion Wisaksil Wangek. Against Cuadras, Chocolatito had to dig deep to earn the decision and on his first defense attempt of his title, we could see if moving up to his fourth division has really affected his punching power.
By Chris Williams: Gennady Golovkin’s promoter Tom Loeffler says Daniel Jacobs is the opponent to allow him to show off all his full ability in their fight on Saturday. Loeffler feels that Golovkin was sloppy in the past in his fights when he wasn’t totally motivated by an opponent. Golovkin was hit more than he should have been in his last outing against Kell Brook. Loeffler sees that as a motivation issue for Golovkin, but it won’t be a problem for him against Jacobs.
