Frampton-Martinez: Carl faces his first real test

frampton23By Scott Gilfoid: Commonwealth super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton (15-0, 10 KO’s) will be taking his first real test of his four year pro career against EBU super bantamweight champion Kiko Martinez (27-3, 19 KO’s) on February 9th at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

This is going to be a really tough one for the 25-year-old Frampton because Martinez has power, speed, defensive skills and a huge heart. Martinez has no quit in him and he’s got a really good chin. What this means is that Martinez will be able to take Frampton’s big power shots without any problem, but then he’ll be answering back with his own big shots and I don’t know that Frampton can take a hard shot as of yet.

McGuigan: Frampton will beat Martinez

frampton545By Scott Gilfoid: Barry McGuigan, the adviser for unbeaten Commonwealth super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton (15-0, 10 KO’s), is picking him to beat EBU super bantamweight champion Kiko Martinez (27-3, 19 KO’s) on February 9th at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.

McGuigan said on his twitter “Respect what Sergio Martinez says, Kiko will be in great shape and he will be dangerous as long as the fight lasts, but Frampton will win.”

I hope McGuigan doesn’t get too upset when things don’t turn out like he’s planned because I think Frampton is going to take a beating in this fight and suffer his first loss of his career. This is too big of a jump up for the short 5’5” Framtpon, and he’s not ready for that big of a move up in class.

Kiko Martinez vs. Carl Frampton in Belfast on February 9th

frampton22By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten Carl “The Jackal” Frampton (15-0, 10 KO’s) will be taking a big step up in class on February 9th against EBU super bantamweight champion Kiko Martinez (27-3, 19 KO’s) at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland. For the 25-year-old Frampton this presents a really stiff challenge for him because he’s been matched against less than spectacular opposition since he turned pro in 2009.

Earlier this year, Frampton struggled to beat Raul Hirales by a 12 round unanimous decision in May. Frampton briefly attempted to slug it out with the hard hitting Hirales, but as soon as he found out that he was in with a harder hitter, Frampton played it safe and fought in a dull defensive manner for the remainder of the fight.

Carl “The Jackal” Frampton v kiko Martinez 9th February

frampton4545By Chris Bax  Unbeaten Carl Frampton’s long awaited fight with EBU super bantamweight champion Kiko Martinez (27-3, 19 KO’s) is going ahead on a bill called “Unfinished business” on February the 9th, featuring a decent undercard this should be a cracking fight and really good show at the Odyssey Arena, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom.

In his last outing, Frampton (15-0, 10 KO’s) blew away former 2 time world champion Steve Molitor in 6 rounds and follows that performance on with another very tough fight for “the jackal”. Now promoted by namesake Sergio, Kiko Martinez, the European champion beaten 3 times in 30 bouts, will provide a very stern test for Frampton but a test I expect him to pass with flying colours.

Molitor: Carl Frampton isn’t ready for this fight

Image: Molitor: Carl Frampton isn't ready for this fightBy Scott Gilfoid: This Saturday night Commonwealth and IBF Inter-Continental super bantamweight champion Carl Frampton (14-0, 9 KO’s) will be putting his unbeaten record and domestic level straps on the line against former IBF super bantamweight champion Steve Molitor (34-2, 12 KO’s) at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom.

The 25-year-old Frampton has really stepped in this time in taking on the 32-year-old talented “The Canadian Kid” Molitor. Frampton is going to get schooled in a major way by Molitor, and there is no way shape or form that the little 5’5″ Frampton is going to win this fight. He’s moving up from domestic level to the very best at the world level in taking on Molitor and it’s going to end badly for Frampton. He’s going to look silly in front of his Irish fans. Molitor has beaten better fighter than Frampton, much better.
