By Scott Gilfoid: 44-year-old Bernard Hopkins (49-5-1, 32 KO’s) is reportedly interested in facing World Boxing Association heavyweight champion David Haye next year if the bout can be made. For this to happen, Hopkins will have to beat his next opponent Enrique Ornelas, who Hopkins will be facing on December 2nd.

Hopkins-Ornelas: Why Didn’t Bernard face a better Opponent for His Tune-Up?
By Chris Williams: Bernard Hopkins (49-5-1, 32 KO’s) will be fighting Enrique Ornelas (29-5, 19 KO’s) in a tune-up bout on December 2nd at Liacouras Center, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This is a warm-up bout for the 44-year-old Hopkins so that he can get prepared for a bout next year against Roy Jones Jr. That fight will be a huge money maker for Hopkins and Jones. However, what gripes me is why of all fighters for Hopkins to choose from, he chose Ornelas. What is up with that? Frankly, I think Ornelas, 29, is a lame choice for a fighter like Hopkins. I don’t mind a fighter like Hopkins fighting a tune-up bout, because goodness knows he needs one.
Hopkins vs. Ornelas on December 2nd – News
By Jason Kim: Forty-four year-old Bernard Hopkins (49-5-1, 32 KO’s) will have a stay busy fight on December 2nd against middleweight contender Enrique Ornelas (29-5, 19 KO’s) in a scheduled 10-round bout at the Liacorous Center, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Hopkins, 44, is taking another middleweight opponent rather than a light heavyweight to try and stay sharp for his potential rematch with Roy Jones Jr. next year.
Jones-Hopkins ll: Say It Ain’t So
By Kevin Pasquale: Once upon a time, in a land far, far away, Roy Jones Jr. ruled the boxing landscape with impunity. His once-in-a-lifetime speed and athleticism, coupled with his amazing boxing instincts, rendered him untouchable by other fighters, regardless of whatever weight class he decided to fight in at the time.
Roy Jones Jr. Could Blow Chance for Hopkins Bout by Facing Green
By Sean McDaniel: 40-year-old Roy Jones Jr. could ruin his chance for a big money payday in a rematch with Bernard Hopkins if Roy can’t get by his next opponent Australian Danny Green on December 2nd. In hindsight, it might end up being a costly mistake for Jones because Green, a former light heavyweight champion, is still fighting quite effectively and is a very tough opponent for Jones to be taking at this stage in his career.
Hopkins – Jones is signed for 2010 – News
By Liam Santiago: It might be fifth ten years too late, but finally, Bernard Hopkins and Roy Jones Jnr have finally agreed to fight in early 2010, providing Roy Jones beats Danny Green on December 2nd in their scheduled boxing event in Sydney, Australia. Although both fighters are past their prime, this is not a pointless fight, they are both still doing very well and, personally, I can’t wait. A 50-50 split is in place for the bout, however, if a knock out occurs then the loser will take a 40% split with the winner taking 60%.
Jones vs. Hopkins in February? – News
By Jim Dower: Roy Jones Jr. (54-5, 40 KO’s) could be facing Bernard Hopkins (49-5-1, 32 KO’s) in rematch in February according to an interview by the 40-year-old Jones at Fight hype. Jones and Hopkins have come to an agreement of a 50-50 purse split for a February 2010 bout. Previously, Hopkins said that he wasn’t interested in fighting Jones unless Roy was willing to take a 40% purse split while he, Hopkins, would take the larger 60% cut.
Roy Jones Jr: “Hopkins Has Never Been Impressive Against Nobody”
By Eric Thomas: In a hilarious interview by Ben Thompson at the Fighthype website, Roy Jones Jr. had a good time telling it like it is ripping apart both Bernard Hopkins and Oscar De La Hoya. Jones, 40, had this to say about Hopkins: “Hopkins don’t look impressive against nobody. Let’s face the music. Hopkins has never been impressive.” Jones then went on to correctly point out that Hopkins usually wins his fights by wearing down his opponents rather than stopping them with one punch or outclassing them like Jones unusually does.
Hopkins-Williams: Will Bernard Come Down to 165?
By Dave Lahr: With WBO/WBC middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik’s cancellation of his October 3rd bout against Paul Williams (37-1, 27 KO’s), it puts Williams and his promoter Dan Goosen in a situation where they need to decide to either wait for Pavlik’s infected knuckle to heal properly for a possible fight in December or forget the whole thing and go with a fight against 44-year-old Bernard Hopkins (49-5, 32 KO’s) at a catch weight.
Great Mistakes: The Jones vs. Hopkins Debate
By Brian Kenneth Blackwell: After re-watching the 1993 bout between Roy Jones Jr. and Bernard Hopkins, as well as analyzing the two in recent matches, I believe it is evident that it would be a huge mistake for Bernard to take this fight. In no way am I downplaying any of Bernard’s accomplishments, or his ability as a fighter, because I know I certainly could not go 10 seconds with the man, as he would probably back me in, and fire the same shot that floored both Antonio Tarver, and Joe Calzaghe, and I would be out for a day or so. But as good as he is, or ever was, he simply does not have the athleticism to compete with a boxer of Roy’s caliber or boxing style.
