Austin Trout doubts Canelo will fight him again

trout77By Dan Ambrose: Former WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-1, 14 KO’s) was amused recently when he heard Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer saying that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez could end up facing the winner of Trout’s December 7th fight against Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 12 KO’s) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Trout doesn’t see Canelo fighting him or Lara, but he’s hoping that Schaefer will make that fight if he gets past Lara. Trout says he feels that he didn’t lose his fight against Canelo earlier this year. He initially agreed that he lost, but after watching the fight on replay, Trout felt that he either won the fight or it should have been scored draw.

YouTube video
By Chris Williams: Former WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-1, 14 KO’s) says he’ll be moving up to the 160 lb. division in the near future to campaign as a middleweight as soon as he finishes up some of his personal goals at 154 that he has set for himself. Trout, 28, has a scheduled fight against Cuban Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 12 KO’s) on December 7th in a fight for the vacant WBA 154 lb. title at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA.

Austin Trout vs. Erislandy Lara for vacant WBA 154 lb. title

trout8By Dan Ambrose: The December 7th fight between Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 12 KO’s) and former WBA light middleweight champion Austin Tout (26-1, 14 KO’s) will have the vacant WBA 154 lb. title on the line for the fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Trout, 28, used to possess the WBA title until losing a controversial 12 round unanimous decision to the highly hyped Saul “Canelo” Alvarez last April in San Antonio, Texas.

It was a very questionable decision because Trout had seemingly done more than enough to get the victory, yet the judges gave the fight to Canelo. One judge had Canelo winning almost every round of the fight by scoring it 118-109. It was pretty sad scoring by that judge and another black eye for the sport.

Prediction on Golden Boys future plans

broner999Golden Boy promotions last grand event “The One” didn’t live up to hype and the action didn’t play as we expected. Although others may have different opinions, that’s what I thought of the event. Golden Boy had yet to release news regarding their future events and they surprised me and I’m sure many hardcore boxing fans with 2 stacked cards for December of this year.

December 7th will be featuring a co main event that  gave me butterflies and is a fight I’ve been anticipating for months now. Austin Trout (26-1, 14 KO’s Vs Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 12 KO’s) for the WBA interim title.

Like many I was hoping that fight would have been put on “The One” rather than Carlos Molina vs Ishe Smith but what’s happened has happened. But that fight could be a fight of the year due to Trout and Lara’s slick style of fighting. And I was also amused by the twitter trash talk between the two.

Malignaggi vs. Judah & Trout vs. Lara on December 7th

lara5By Dan Ambrose: Zab Judah (42-8, 29 KO’s) and Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO’s) will be facing each other on December 7th in a Golden Boy Promoted card on Showtime at the Barclays Center, in Brooklyn, New York, USA. According to Dan Rafael of ESPN, former WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-1, 14 KO’s) will be facing WBA interim 154 lb. champion Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 12 KO’s).

Judah hasn’t fought since losing a close 12 round decision to Danny Garcia last April in Brooklyn, New York. Judah did a great job of taking away Garcia’s left hook and forcing him to beat him with his right hand. It was still a very close fight, as Judah came on in the last part of the fight to hurt Garcia.

Trout wants Canelo rematch or winner of Cotto-Rodriguez

canelo6By Dan Ambrose: Former WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout (26-1, 14 KO’s) is hoping that Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-1-1, 30 KO’s) will step up to the plate and agree to give him a rematch so that Trout can clear up the controversy over their fight last April in which Canelo won’t be a questionable decision in El Paso, Texas.

If Trout can’t get a fight against the recently beaten Canelo, then he wants to fight the winner of this Saturday’s fight between Miguel Cotto and Delvin Rodriguez.

Trout has already beaten Rodriguez by a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision in June of last year, so it’s not likely that Rodriguez will want a second helping of Trout after that experience.

Austin Trout: Canelo is going to need his size and power to beat Mayweather Jr.

canelo666By Allan Fox: Former WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout recognizes that WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) is over-matched in the speed department against Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26 KO’s) for their fight next week on September 14th, and Canelo is also over-matched in the maneuverability department as well.

Trout feels that Canelo’s ace in the hole is his big weight advantage, as well as his power advantage against the much lighter 150 lb.

Mayweather. Canelo weighed 172 lbs. for his last fight against Trout last April, and that means that Canelo is for all intents and purposes a fighter that is 3 divisions bigger than Mayweather Jr. in the weight department. That could be a significant advantage for the red-haired Mexican fighter.

Roger Mayweather: Canelo vs. Trout could have been a draw

By Dan Ambrose: Roger Mayweather, one of Floyd Mayweather Jr’s trainers, says he wasn’t all that impressed with WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez’s 12 round unanimous decision win over Austin Trout last April. To Roger, the fight could have been scored a draw because Canelo didn’t establish that he was better than Trout in that fight.
