Martin Murray expects to take Arthur Abraham’s title on Saturday

murray1(Photo Credit: Lawrence Lustig) By Scott Gilfoid: After coming up empty on three prior world title challenges, #10 WBO fringe contender Martin Murray (32-2-1, 15 KOs) will be attempting to end his run of bad luck this Saturday night against WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (43-4, 29 KOs) on 11/21 at the TUI Arena in beautiful Hannover, Germany.

The 32-year-old Murray explains that the reason why he got beaten or held to a draw in his previous three attempts at a world title was because he wasn’t ready and in his prime like he is now, but right now he feels he’s at his very best.

Martin Murray could face Groves if he beats Abraham

murray5By Scott Gilfoid: #10 WBO Martin Murray (32-2-1, 15 KOs) could wind up facing #3 WBC Sauerland fighter George Groves (21-3, 16 KOs) if he can get past WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (43-4, 29 KOs) in their fight next Saturday night on November 21st at the Tui Arena, in Hannover, Niedersachsen, Germany.

#10 WBO Murray, 32, says that Groves is one of the guys that he could be facing if/when he defeats the 35-year-old Abraham in their fight in Germany.

It’ kind of interesting that the 27-year-old Groves is one of the guys that has a chance for a fight against Murray if he can get past Abraham, because Groves has lost 3 out of his last 5 fights in losses to 168lb champions Badou Jack and Carl Froch [X 2].

Martin Murray gets his 4th chance at world title against Arthur Abraham

golovkin42222By Scott Gilfoid: #15 WBC Martin Murray (32-2-1, 15 KOs) will be getting his 4th world title shot in his last 12 fights when he faces WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (43-4, 29 KOs) next month on November 21st at the Tui Arena, in Hannover, Germany.

Murray, 33, hasn’t won a world title yet, but he keeps getting chances. It’s very reminiscent of the way that Matthew Macklin kept getting world title shots despite his many failures. Murray can’t afford to fail this time because there’s no telling whether he’ll be able to get another gift opportunity given to him like this. I mean, it was just this year that Murray was knocked out in the 11th round by IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin.

Abraham says he picked Murray because he’s a strong boxer

abraham44By Scott Gilfoid: WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (43-4, 29 KOs) says he picked #15 WBO Martin Murray (32-2-1, 15 KOs) out for his next opponent on November 21st because he wanted to face a strong fighter, who had fought in previous world championships. Abraham says he likes to fight good fighters.

Abraham doesn’t say why he selected a fighter with a #15 ranking in Murray or why he’s been fighting these guys in the last two years: Robert Stieglitz, Paul Smith, Nikola Sjekloca, Giovanni De Carolis, and Willbeforce Shihepo. If what Abraham says about him wanting to fight the best then why hasn’t he been fighting the Dirrell brothers recently instead of the above mentioned fighters?

Martin Murray gets 4th world title shot against Arthur Abraham

murray53By Scott Gilfoid: Three time world title failure #15 WBO Martin Murray (32-2-1, 15 KOs) will be getting yet another world title shot when he faces WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (32-2-1, 15 KOs) on November 21st at the Tui Arena, in Hannover, Niedersachsen, Germany.

I predicted this fight would happen in the past, and as usual I was right. My other prediction is I don’t see it going well for the light hitting 33-year-old Murray. I suspect he’ll take a royal whipping of the first order and be sent on his way to be a 4-time world title loser.

Hopkins in talks with Abraham for fight in 2016

1-HopkinsKovalevFinalPC_Hoganphotos12By Dan Ambrose: 50-year-old Bernard Hopkins (55-7-2, 32 KOs) plans on fighting after his 51st birthday next January 2016. Hopkins is interested in fighting WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham. Hopkins says that discussions are going on between his side and Abraham’s promoters at Sauerland Events, and he says they are very interested in the fight. Hopkins feels certain that he’ll be fighting the 35-year-old Abraham next January.

It’s a somewhat interesting fight between Hopkins and Abraham, but not one that would likely resonate in the United States. You can’t blame Hopkins for going for this fight because it might be the best thing he can get at this point.

Arthur Abraham vs. Martin Murray possible for November 21st

abraham5(Photo Credit: Sebastian Heger) By Scott Gilfoid: WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (43-4, 29 KOs) and his promoters at Sauerland Events will be announcing his next opponent this Wednesday, October 7th for his November 21st fight at the Tui Arena, in Hannover, Niedersachsen, Germany.

According to the latest boxing news rumors, the opponent for Abraham could very well be bottom ranked #15 WBO Martin Murray (32-2-1, 15 KOs), who only recently moved up to the 168lb division this year after getting whipped by IBO/WBA middleweight champion Gennady “GGG” Golovkin last February in losing by an 11th round knockout. I don’t know if Murray can get the fight with Abraham, because Bernard Hopkins is saying that he’ll be fighting Abraham next. I think that’s a much better fight than Abraham-Murray fight

Arthur Abraham vs. Bernard Hopkins possible for 2016

Image: Arthur Abraham vs. Bernard Hopkins possible for 2016By Dan Ambrose: WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (43-4, 29 KOs) could be facing soon to be 51-year-old Bernard Hopkins (55-7-2, 32 KOs) in a fight that would be taking place in 2016, according to Dan Rafael.

Hopkins hasn’t fought since losing a one-sided 12 round unanimous decision to Russian light heavyweight Sergey Kovalev last November. Hopkins has had opportunities to fight since then, but he’s looking for a big fight rather than the smaller ones at this point in his career.

Arthur Abraham to fight on November 21st in Hannover, Germany

abraham5(Photo Credit: Sebastian Heger) By Scott Gilfoid: WBO super middleweight champion Arthur Abraham (43-4, 29 KOs) will be making his fifth defense of his WBO 168lb title two months from now on November 21st against an opponent still to be determined at the TUI Arena in Hannover, Germany. This will be a voluntary defense for the 35-year-old Abraham, so that likely means he’ll be facing the weakest possible opponent from near or at the bottom of the WBO’s rankings.

With the WBO’s rankings, which are kind bizarre as far as I’m concerned, it could mean that Abraham picks someone as high as #2 or as low as #14 in the WBO’s rankings. I don’t see Abraham fighting #15 WBO Martin Murray in a voluntary defense because of Murray’s huge size.
