Froch says he won’t fight DeGale if he beats Dirrell on Saturday

froch#2By Scott Gilfoid: Former IBF/WBA 168lb strap holder Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) has categorically ruled out a fight against Britain’s James DeGale (20-1, 14 KOs) if he somehow gets past #2 IBF Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KOs) in their fight this Saturday night for the vacant IBF super middleweight title on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC from the Agganis Arena, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Froch, 37, had recently said that he’d be possibly interested in facing the 29-year-old DeGale if he got past Dirrell, although he felt it would be a very, very tough task for DeGale to do so.

By Scott Gilfoid: James DeGale (20-1, 14 KOs) is so confident that he’ll beat #2 IBF Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KOs) this Saturday night in their fight for the vacant IBF 168lb title that he’s already looking past the American fighter towards what he hopes will be a rematch against George Groves, or fights against Carl Froch, Andre Ward, Arthur Abraham and Gilberto Ramirez.

Andre Dirrell vs. James DeGale next Saturday on PBS on May 23rd

dirrell445By Scott Gilfoid: We’re now just one week away from seeing #2 IBF Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KOs) and Britain’s #1 IBF James DeGale (20-1, 14 KOs) square off on May 23rd for the vacant IBF 168lb strap on NBC on Premier Boxing Champions from the Agganis Arena, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Dirrell sees DeGale as a decent fighter, but he sees a lot of flaws in his game that he’ll be able to exploit next Saturday. Dirrell didn’t specifically mention it but he had to have noticed DeGale’s flat-footed fighting style and his lack of hand speed. Dirrell notes that DeGale likes to switch stances during his fights.

DeGale says he’ll put best performance of career against Dirrell

degale4By Scott Gilfoid: James DeGale (20-1, 14 KOs) has had an up and down career since turning pro in 2009. He’s looked good at times when matched against the right type of opponent, but then he’s struggled badly when put in with the likes of George Groves, Piotr Wilczewski, and Hadillah Mohoumadi. But after those three arguable losses, DeGale has righted his ship and won his last seven fights in impressive fashion against clearly weaker opposition than those three fighters.

DeGale, 29, is now 8 days away from fighting for the vacant IBF super middleweight title against the talented American Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KOs) on May 23rd at the Agganis Arena, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. The DeGale vs. Dirrell fight will be shown on Premier Boxing Champions on NBC.

DeGale: I will punch much harder than anyone Dirrell has faced

degale67 - CopyBy Scott Gilfoid: America’s Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KOs) will be looking to win the IBF super middleweight title nine days from now against #1 IBF James DeGale (20-1, 14 KOs) on NBC on Premier Boxing Champions from the Agganis Arena, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Compared to some of the fights that Dirrell has, this fight should appear to be one of the easier ones due to DeGale’s lack of punching power, defense and his flat-footed fighting style. But for some reason DeGale feels that he’s going to make history in this fight, and that he’s going to be hitting the talented Dirrell with the kind of power shots that he’s never experienced before during his career.

DeGale-Dirrell only 12 days away

direll5566By Scott Gilfoid: The long awaited James DeGale (20-1, 14 KOs) vs. Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KO) clash is only 12 days away for their fight on May 23rd for Carl Froch’s old IBF super middleweight title at the Agganis Arena, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.

Froch didn’t want to defend his IBF title against DeGale, so now we have DeGale-Dirrell as a result of that. But even if Froch had defended his title against DeGale and subsequently beat him, Froch would still be staring in the face of Dirrell, a fighter who gave Froch huge problems six years ago in the Super Six tournament in 2009.

DeGale confident he’ll beat Dirrell on May 23rd

dirrell6By Scott Gilfoid: #1 IBF James DeGale (20-1, 14 KOs) currently is ranked higher than the #2 IBF Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KOs) ahead of their clash for the vacant IBF super middleweight title next month on May 23rd, but Dirrell is still seen as the favorite by the odds-makers.

They obviously see that Dirrell has the superior experience, hand speed, defense, mobility and power compared to DeGale. Froch says he’s interested in fighting DeGale-Dirrell winner

dirrell-froch12345By Scott Gilfoid: Julio Cesar Chavez Jr’s recent loss to Andrzej Fonfara really sucked the wind out of WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch’s sails, leaving him with few options for his next fight. Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) had been dreaming of a fight against the 29-year-old Chavez Jr. for some time, as he felt that it was a match-up that would draw a lot of boxing fans in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Believe it or not, Froch and his promoter Eddie Hearn even saw the Chavez Jr. fight as a pay-per-view event, which makes you wonder if they’d been keeping up on the news of Chavez Jr’s career in the past three years. Whatever the case, Froch is now saying that he’s interested in facing the winner of the May 23rd fight between Britain’s James DeGale (20-1, 14 KOs) and American talent Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KOs) at the Agganis Arena, in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
