DeGale: After I win the title [against Dirrell], I’m going after the rest of the belts

By Scott Gilfoid: James DeGale (20-1, 14 KOs) says he’ll be targeting all the other super middleweight titles once he beats American Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KOs) this Saturday night on Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) on NBC from Boston. Dirrell: DeGale will pay if the fight goes 12 rounds

_DM33164(Photo credit: Carly Gillis Photography) By Scott Gilfoid: Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KOs) figures that it will be much easier for the visiting James DeGale (20-1, 14 KOs) if he’s knocked out quickly on Saturday night in their clash for the vacant IBF 168lb title rather than if the fight goes the full distance. If the fight goes the full 12, DeGale will take a lot of punishment and will have to pay, Dirrell says.

It’s hard to doubt a fighter like Dirrell because if you watched his last fight against Derek Edwards last December, you’ll have noticed how much awful punishment Edwards took in that fight.

DeGale: If Dirrell wants to run, I’ll catch him eventually

degale778By Scott Gilfoid: This Saturday night on Premier Boxing Champions, #1 IBF James DeGale (20-1, 14 KOs) and #2 IBF Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KOs) will be fighting over the vacant IBF super middleweight title in a fight that is seen by many in the sport as a toss-up fight. However, many fans still see Dirrell as being too quick, too talented, and far too strong of a fighter for DeGale to compete against in this fight.

DeGale appears to have his mind made up that he’s going to beat Dirrell, and he thinks he’ll be ready for anything when he gets inside the squared circle with the 31-yuear-old American fighter at the Agganis Arena, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Froch wants to see DeGale to take the fight to Dirrell

YouTube video

By Scott Gilfoid: In reviewing James DeGale’s opposition in his current 10-fight winning streak, there really isn’t much to see in the way of talent. He’s no faced anyone of quality during the last four years, and that’s why it’s almost impossible to tell whether he’s improved or not over the fighter that lost to George Groves in 2011.

DeGale: Dirrell doesn’t like it when it gets difficult in there

dirrell323By Scott Gilfoid: While super middleweight contender James DeGale (20-1, 14 KOs) has never fought #2 IBF Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KOs) before in order to give an accurate description of his talent and what he can or can’t do in the ring, DeGale is already dissecting him by saying that he sees him as someone who struggles when put under duress.

This Saturday night fans will get a chance to see if the 29-year-old DeGale knows what he’s talking about when he and Dirrell go head to head for the vacant IBF 168lb crown.

Groves thinks DeGale can beat Dirrell

Froch: Dirrell isn’t very manly, I hope DeGale does a job on him

dirrell-froch12345By Scott Gilfoid: Well, it seems former IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (33-2, 24 KOs) still is a little peeved at him not getting credit from boxing fans for his foul-plagued win six years ago in his hometown of Nottingham, UK, against the talented American Andre Dirrell (24-1, 16 KOs) on October 17th, 2009.

Froch lashed out at Dirrell in a column at SkySports.com today, saying that Dirrell isn’t “manly” and that he “comes across as a coward.”
