Algieri wants Broner or Berto

Image: Algieri wants Broner or BertoBy Dan Ambrose: #6 WBO welterweight contender Chris Algieri (21-2, 8 KOs) says he wants to fight either Adrien Broner or #5 WBC in 2016. Algieri, 31, recently ended his 2-fight losing streak last December in defeating Erick Bone by a 10 round unanimous decision in a tougher than expected fight for Algieri.

Before that, Algeri had lost back to back fights to Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao. The loss to Pacquiao was especially one-sided with Algieri getting knocked down six times in the fight in losing every round in their fight in November 2014.

Mayweather was NOT lazy and weak against Berto

Floyd Mayweather vs Andre BertoBy Chris Williams: There are small segment of the boxing community who think that Floyd Mayweather Jr. looked bad in his last fight against former IBF/WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto in his last fight on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Boxing great Roberto Duran is one of them. He says that Mayweather looked “lazy” and “weak” against Berto. I don’t agree with that at all. Mayweather was no lazy, and definitely wasn’t weak. The reason why Mayweather didn’t bring his usual A-game against Berto was because he didn’t need to.

Duran: Mayweather looked lazy, weak and loose against Berto

floyd56By Allan Fox: Boxing great Roberto Duran says he hopes that unbeaten Floyd “Money” Mayweather Jr (49-0, 26 KOs) doesn’t return to the ring in 2016, because he feels that he’s a washed up, weak and lazy fighter at this point in his career. Duran says he saw Mayweather’s fight against Andre Berto on September 12th last month, and was no impressed with what he saw from either fighter.

Duran said that Berto was little more than “a nobody,” and that Mayweather was just clowning around the whole time. Duran says that Mayweather didn’t want to fight an up and coming fighter because he was afraid of getting hurt and then not being able to enjoy the millions that he’s made in the ring.

De La Hoya: Mayweather ended his career with a little fire cracker

EW5G8638(Photo credit: Lucas Noonan/Premier Boxing Champions) By Dan Ambrose: Golden Boy Promotions promoter Oscar De La Hoya says he hopes that superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr. doesn’t make a comeback next year. It’s unknown why De La Hoya hopes that Mayweather comes back other than perhaps he was bored by his recent win over Andre Berto, or perhaps unhappy with Mayweather for beating his Golden Boy Promotions fighters Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero.

Mayweather also defeated De La Hoya eight years ago in beating him by a 12 round decision in a close fight. It was close but none the less, Mayweather won the fight by dominating De La Hoya in the second half of the fight.
