There are several potentially great fighters in the division such as Amir Khan (23-1 17kos), Marcos Maidana (28-1 27kos), Devon Alexander (20-0 13kos) and Timothy Bradley (26-0 11kos). By William Mackay: World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) says he plans on fighting WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley (26-0, 11 KO’s). On Khan’s Twitter page, Khan had this to say about Bradley: “I’ll fight Tim Bradley. It’s the first time he has called me out. I’m going to Vegas and talk to Golden Boy [Khan’s promotional company that handles his boxing career]. I would love the fight. Good style for me. I’m fighting Timothy Bradley next. I’m gonna tell Golden Boy. Let’s see if they want it for real. Talk is cheap.”

Diaz-Marquez: The Khan riches await the winner

Is Khan Avoiding Maidana

Khan’s father, Shah Khan, says that Amir is fine after his release from the Beaumont Hospital in Bolton where he had been for a short stay to recover from the high fever. Khan, 23, will now rest and recover from the illness.

By William Mackay: You have to wonder why WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KO’s) is being positioned his promotional company Golden Boy Promotions to fight the July 31st winner between lightweights Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz. Khan, 23, is no longer fighting in the lightweight division, having left the division a year ago try ply his trade against the bigger, stronger light welterweights.

HBO interested in Amir Khan vs. Juan Manuel Marquez bout

By William Mackay: Ross Greenburg, the president of HBO Sports, is interested in a potential match-up between 36-year-old lightweight Juan Manuel Marquez and WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.com. Greenburg seems to be assuming that Marquez will get by former lightweight champion Juan Diaz later on this month in their blockbuster pay-per-view event on July 31st. Greenburg says “We are going to try to make them happen. I think Khan-Marquez is certainly in the works. We hope it happens. Diaz can disrupt it in less than a month, but if Khan-Marquez happens and if Bradley-Alexander happens, we have a hot division. These fights have to take place. We ultimately have to get to a point where somebody is standing on the mountaintop.”
